Virgil Charles Frye, (August 21, 1930 - May 7, 2012), was an American actor and former Golden Gloves boxing champion.
He grew up in Estherville, Iowa. He has two children, Sean Frye and Soleil Moon Frye (Punky Brewster), and is the father-in-law of Jason Goldberg.
Frye made an uncredited appearance in Easy Rider while working as a makeup artist on the 1969 film.
Frye suffered from Pick's Disease or Frontotemporal dementia (FTD). He was the subject of a documentary made by his daughter, titled Sonny Boy, which documents a trip that Frye and his daughter took to his hometown, and the effect his illness has had on their relationship. Virgil Frye died at an Orange County nursing home on May 7, 2012.

Cliff Spab (Stephen Dorff) and his friend Joe Dice (Jack Noseworthy) go out one evening to buy beer from a convenience store...where a group of masked and heavily-armed terrorists take Cliff, Joe, and three other people hostage. The terrorists, who call themselves S.P.L.T. Image (a play on "Split Image"), have a video camera with which they tape their hostages' every word and action. During the month-long standoff with the police, S.P.L.T. Image's only demand is that their broadcasts be televised on worldwide TV, live and uncut - or else the hostages will be killed. S.P.L.T. A corporate conglomerate called "The Ellison Group" acquired four breweries, all of them experiencing financial trouble. Enter Frank Macklin (Robert Hays), a young manager hired by Ellison to help reorganize one of the ailing breweries. The only thing, though, was that brewery was a major employer in his home town. Originally, his old friends, who were working at the brewery, gave him a cold welcome, as they thought he would be unable to revitalize the brewery. But when Frank informed them that the brewery was drowning in red ink, and that they may be losing their jobs soon, they welcomed him with open arms, and ramped up the brewery's sales and production. The brewery has improved so much, that The Ellison Group decided to sell it to a Texas oil millionaire, who doesn't know the first thing about running a brewery—or apparently—running a business.
