Vladimir Pavlovich Fogel (Russian: Владимир Павлович Фогель; 1902 – June 9, 1929) was a Russian silent film actor.
Vogel joue ensuite dans les films de Vsevolod Poudovkine, Yakov Protazanov, Fiodor Otsep ou Boris Barnet. Il acquiert une reconnaissance internationale avec Dura lex de Koulechov (1926) et Trois dans un sous-sol d'Abram Room (1927). Biography
Vladimir Fogel poursuit ses études à l'Institut technologique de Moscou mais la Révolution d'Octobre change ses plans. Il est obligé de travailler comme bûcheron et finalement réussit à entrer au Gu.I.K., aujourd'hui Institut fédéral d'État du cinéma, qui ouvre en 1919. Il entre dans la classe de Lev Koulechov. Il obtint son premier petit rôle dans son film Les Aventures extraordinaires de Mr West au pays des Bolcheviks. Il interprète un rôle plus important (le fasciste Fog) dans un autre film de Koulechov Le Rayon de la mort (1925).Vogel joue ensuite dans les films de Vsevolod Poudovkine, Yakov Protazanov, Fiodor Otsep ou Boris Barnet. Il acquiert une reconnaissance internationale avec Dura lex de Koulechov (1926) et Trois dans un sous-sol d'Abram Room (1927). Un paysan arrive à Saint-Pétersbourg et accepte le premier travail qu'on lui propose. The story centers on the relationship of the three main characters. Liuda and her husband, Kolia, live in a one-room basement apartment on Third Meschchanskaya Street, a petty-bourgeois neighborhood in Moscow. She is bored and resentful with the constant succession of household duties and the cramped living conditions in which she must cook and attempt to organize her clothes, even though there is no place to put them. She spends her days idly, mostly by reading magazines, notably the popular (at that time) Soviet film fan magazine Soviet Screen (Sovetskii ekran). Kolia works as a stonemason and is charming and good-natured, but also dictatorial and egocentric. When Kolia’s old friend, Volodia, arrives in Moscow, he cannot find a place to live in the overcrowded city, due to a severe housing shortage which was still a major social problem ten years after the revolution. Kolia invites him to stay at their apartment, to sleep on the sofa.

Natasha and her grandfather live in a cottage near Moscow, making hats for Madame Irène. Madame and her husband have told the housing committee that Natasha rents a room from them; this fiddle gives Madame's lazy husband a room for lounging. To prepare grounds for yet another speculation, the banker Ornano (Mikhail Klimov) sells his house for three million rubles, but since it the weekend he cannot deposit the money in a bank and must carry it with him. He leaves the city for his country home for a short period of time, only return right away owing to his worries about the money. His wife sends a note to her lover telling him that there are three million in the house but the note, owing to the machinations of one of the three thieves on whom the film focuses, is intercepted. The note, falling into hands of the thief/adventurer Cascarilla (Anatoli Ktorov) causes him to plot his attempt to steal the money. Meantime, the small-time burglar Tapioca (Igor Ilyinsky) also chooses the same night to break into the house.

Dans un pays étranger capitaliste, les ouvriers d’une usine mènent une révolte qui est réprimée par le patronat, assisté d'une organisation fasciste. The film is a broad satire of American ignorance of the Soviet Union. The naive American, Mr. West, played by Porfori Podobed as a Harold Lloyd type (complete with enormous round glasses), is a YMCA president who is planning a trip to the newly founded Soviet Union to spread the idea of the YMCA. His wife, Madge, is worried that Russia is full of savage Bolsheviks who wear primitive rags and fur for clothing, as depicted in American magazines. He takes along his cowboy friend Jeddie played by Boris Barnet for protection and as a companion.
