Wolf Rilla est un réalisateur britannique d'origine allemande, né le 16 mars 1920 à Berlin et mort le 19 octobre 2005 à Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes). Il est surtout connu pour son film Le Village des damnés.
Il est le fils de l'acteur allemand Walter Rilla et de Teresa Klausner. En 1934, la famille émigre vers la Grande-Bretagne, pour fuir le national-socialisme naissant, Walter Rilla étant d'origine juive.
Après sa scolarité, Rilla travaille à la BBC, où il dirige des émissions de propagande du service en allemand. Au début des années 1950, il travaille comme scénariste et réalisateur pour le cinéma britannique. Contrairement à son père, Wolf Rilla n'est jamais retourné en Allemagne. Il se retira dans le sud de la France où il devint gérant d'un hôtel.

The inhabitants of the British village of Midwich suddenly fall unconscious, as does anyone entering the village. The military establishes a cordon around Midwich and sends in a man wearing a gas mask, but he, too, falls unconscious and is pulled back with rope. The man awakens and reports experiencing a cold sensation just before passing out. The pilot of a military reconnaissance plane is contacted and asked to investigate. When he flies below 5,000 feet, he loses consciousness and the plane crashes. A five-mile exclusion zone around the village is established for all aircraft. The villagers regain consciousness and apparently are unaffected.

Hambourg, 1960. L'histoire raconte la rencontre de trois jeunes hommes très différents de la toute jeune République fédérale et la manière dont leurs destins se mêlent. Il est un médecin non conventionnel obsédé par son métier qui veut étudier les aliments frelatés nocifs. Tous trois se frottent aux conditions sociales de l'Allemagne saturée d'après-guerre de l'époque Adenauer.
