Yasemin Şamdereli (born 1973 Dortmund, Germany) is a Turkish-German actress, screenwriter and film director. Her film Almanya - Willkommen in Deutschland had its U.S. premiere at the Berlin and Beyond Film Festival in San Francisco on October 20, 2011.

Biography

Yasemin Şamdereli est née à Dortmund, en Allemagne de l'Ouest, le 15 juillet 1973. Elle étudie à la Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München de 1993 à 2000. De 1994 à 1998, elle travaille en tant que collaboratrice indépendante pour Bavaria Film. Jusqu'en 2002, elle travaille en tant qu'assistante du dirigeant adjoint pour des films internationaux, y compris les films de Jackie Chan comme Qui suis-je ?(1998).

Six year-old Cenk Yılmaz begins to question his identity in his German school one day when he isn't chosen for either the German or the Turkish soccer team. He is the son of Ali, of Turkish heritage, and his German wife, Gabi, and Cenk cannot speak Turkish. At a family meal his Grandmother Fatma declares to the family her newly acquired German citizenship. At the same meal, Grandfather Hüseyin tells the family that he has bought a house in Turkey that he wants to use as a summer home. In order to renovate the house, he wants to travel to Turkey with the whole family.
