Death 6 february 1988 (at 100 years)

Zvonimir Rogoz (10 October 1887 – 6 February 1988) was a Croatian actor.

A native of Zagreb, Zvonimir Rogoz became famous in Czechoslovakia between the two world wars. He appeared in many Czechoslovak films of the 1930s, but the best known of them all was the 1933 erotic drama Ecstasy, featuring Hedy Lamarr, who shocked the public by appearing nude.

From 1950s onwards, Rogoz appeared in Croatian films, but the younger generations of Croatia remember him best for his private life: he fathered a child at the age of 96. This and other events became the subject of his autobiographical book Mojih prvih 100 godina (My First 100 Years).

He died in Zagreb a few months after his 100th birthday.

It is a period piece set in 1913 in Zagreb (which was at the time part of Austria-Hungary) and follows members of the fictional Glembay family, headed by Ignjat Glembay (Tonko Lonza), a prominent banker, and his second wife baroness Castelli (Ena Begović). Eleven years after his mother's suicide, Leone Glembay (Mustafa Nadarević) returns from abroad to his family home in Zagreb. He is haunted by depressing memories, particularly by thoughts of his deceased mother, his sister who committed suicide, and the Baroness Castelli, his father's second wife. The only member of his family that Leone confides in is Beatrice (Bernarda Oman), his brother Ivan's widow, who in the meantime became a nun and renamed herself Angelika. Leone witnesses omnipresent hypocrisy in the family and is repulsed by the criminal means through which his family became rich. Ultimately, Leone confronts his father and the baroness.

Filip (Dragutin Klobučar) and Stanko (Ivo Serdar) are two young clerks who share an office in a nondescript company. The two are also amateur rowers who train together. Their personalities are quite different: while Filip is fastidious, serious in relationships with women, and somewhat introverted and sensitive, Stanko is a womanizer and prone to shirking his duties at work. Still, they spend most of their time together, rowing on the Sava river in the morning, collaborating in the office during the day, and going out in the evening looking for female company - all trying desperately to escape from the tedium of everyday life. They see their senior colleague Jurak (Zvonimir Rogoz) as a dinosaur, dreading the possibility of becoming like him as they grow older.
