Percy Peiris (Wasantha Kotuwella) and his new wife, Princy (Indira Jonklas), are on their honeymoon in the wet zone at an isolated guesthouse. There, Percy starts having violent hallucinations in the form of flashbacks every time he tries to become intimate with Princy.
It is essentially a love story between an architect and a beautiful village girl. The architect, Kalpana, travels to a hill country village for work and it is there that meets Menaka. Kalpana faces many challenges with a local group of thugs secretly investigating King Ravan's Ancestry Book. Menaka is a part of Ravan's Ancestry. Her father was murdered by some hidden enemies because of a conflict over a secret document regarding the Ravan Ancestry. Kalpa gets more intrigued about this matter and turns to the monk at the village temple for advice.
The village headman of a small village is a drunkard and womanizer who is disliked by the village for his abusive ways. He hassles the heroine and other characters. At the end of the film he goes mad.
The story is based on the affair and the murders by Father Mathew Pieris, priest of St. Paul's Church, who was later "condemned to death by hanging" for the murder of his wife and the husband of his mistress.
When a young boy loses his first love, he becomes lonely and sad. He tries desperately to find a solution to his loneliness, while still believing that his lost love will eventually return to him. He uses drugs and alcohol to forget, but it is not successful. He keeps waiting, expecting his ex-girlfriend to return, but she never comes back. The beautiful young girl feels remorse for what she did to her boyfriend. Even though she was the one who ended the relationship, she still loved the young boy. She thinks about asking for forgiveness and starting their relationship over again, and eventually sends a text message to her ex-boyfriend saying that she still loves him.
The lead character Soyza (Fredee Silva), is currently a modest farmer who grows potatoes together with his housemates (Don Sirisena ) and Costa (Wimal Kumara De Costa). The villain or the other housemate, Wadigapatuna (Nihal Kumarapathirana) is a Mudalali businessman who owns a shop in the village. Unlike Soyza, Don and Costa, Wadigapatuna is a selfish and a bad person.
The heroine of the story (played by Udari Warnakulasuriya) is a violinist, and the hero (played by Amila Abesekara) is a guitarist. Their romance is set against ethnic issues between the Sinhalese and Tamil people of Sri Lanka. The heroine's father is a politician and mayor of a city in the hill country. The hero's mother, Sakunthala, is a rich and noble woman from Colombo. Sakunthala goes to the hill country city seeking revenge on her former lover who deserted her 25 years ago. When the mayor finds that his daughter is in love with Sakunthala's son, he makes every effort to break up their romance. Sakunthala also attempts to break up the young couple since she knows that the mayor is her son's father. However, the mayor's wife reveals a secret which allows the young lovers to reunite and teaches a lesson in ethnic harmony.
Sena (Milton Jayawardena) of weak character is sent to a boarding school at a well-to-do city university by his family who mortgage everything they own to pay for his education. Their future well-being is thus in the hands of Sena. Sena however succumbs to the temptations of city life and fails in his venture.
