A group of college students break into an abandoned school to explore it. Once inside, they find that the school is not completely abandoned thanks to a eugenics program gone horribly wrong.
After World War 3, the dead have risen and are eating the living after the sun goes down. A group of survivors are held up in a building fighting off the undead. One night though, the zombies break through and the group is forced to evacuate. They find themselves running through the woods, trying at all costs to stay alive.
Renee, a former junkie still working out psychological issues, moves to the Mexico border with her doctor fiancee, Jeffrey. They befriend Michael, a local caretaker for the windmills in the area. During dinner at Renee's house, the place comes under siege by ancient Mayan zombies who Michael had killed in the past. The dead orphan connects to Renee who feels the need to solve why the ancient Mayan Zombies were killed and how to rest their souls.
After a female corpse in perfect condition is exhumed, two funeral home employees remove a wooden stake from it. The corpse instantly revives and reveals itself as a vampire. Sensing the return of his bride, the vampire who created her, an Old West gunslinger, comes to the town and begins to turn the people into zombies that serve his will.
A little boy named Tony Washington (Jesse D'Angelo) watches his father William Washington (John Fasano) play in a baseball game. On the way home Tony, William and Tony's mother Louise (Francesca Bonacorsa) see a young girl (Tracy Biddle) about to be raped by two teenagers. William saves the young girl from being raped but is killed when one of the rapists fatally stabs him.
In an abandoned prison, a doctor has revived executed convicts as the living dead. Teenager Scott Schwartz (A Christmas Story, The Toy) creates a weapon from a laserdisc player's laser and pursues the walking dead, aided by his girlfriend and grandfather (western star Robert Allen). A reporter (Robert Deveau) on the trail of the story is helped by the town librarian, played in her final film role by Zita Johann (Boris Karloff's The Mummy, The Sin of Nora Moran). On the prison island, the zombies attack a security guard and tear him apart as the reporter and teenager venture into the prison caverns for a final showdown.
Ricky (Carl Washington) is a young scientist living in a poor and violent section of Oakland with his brother Jermaine (Brandon Daniels). Since his parents died, Ricky has been working hard at a laboratory trying to perfect a regenerative formula that could heal dead cells in animals.
As the U.S. government begins experimenting with a bacteriological weapon in a small town in Eastern Europe, a disaster occurs in which the weapon spreads its effects on the citizens of the area, turning them into mutated zombies. To cover up the exposure and make it look like a nuclear meltdown of an area power station, the U.S. President orders a team of contracted mercenaries to be sent in to wipe out the zombie plague and secure the "accident" while facing off with the infected horde.
After a terrorist attack, Sarah takes her injured father to a busy and overworked hospital, only to lose consciousness during the stressful attempt to save his life. When she comes to, the hospital seems deserted. Sarah quickly discovers that zombies have taken over the building, and, along with other survivors, flees the hospital and attempts to survive against the undead hordes.
Long-dead cannibals are brought back to life when a volcano erupts. A sheriff and his daughter band together with several other survivors to defeat the lava-based zombies.
Mosquitoes spread a zombie plague, and humanity is devastated. Denied shelter with a heavily armed group of survivors, Keith and Shelley attempt to clear out a marina and use it to escape to a better location. Amid attacks by nocturnal zombies, the previous group begin to raid them for supplies.
Serial murderer and rapist Abbot Hayes disappears from the morgue and becomes the leader of several waves of zombies that attack his home town. Fourteen years after the last zombie attack, a businessman relocates bodies from a local cemetery to pave the way for progress, but sets in motion Abbot's next undead assault.
A professor returns to Arkham University with the blood of a zombie. As he tests it on the students, Amy accidentally initiates a zombie attack. During the confusion, bully Clare targets goths Sarah and Allison for involuntary conversion into zombies.
