Douglas John Booth (born 9 July 1992) is an English actor. He first came to public attention following his performance as Boy George in the BBC Two film Worried About the Boy (2010). He also starred in the BBC adaptations of Great Expectations and Christopher and His Kind (both 2011). In 2013, Booth starred in Carlo Carlei's film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. In 2014, he appeared in Darren Aronofsky's Noah and Lone Scherfig's The Riot Club, and in 2015, co-starred in The Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending.

Biography

Booth shares an apartment with his sister, Abi, in Bermondsey, London. In 2015, he was named one of GQ's 50 best dressed British men.
He has supported the HeForShe feminist campaign and has described himself as a "passionate supporter of gender equality".

In Los Angeles in 1976, Christopher Isherwood begins writing his memoir. The film flashes back to 1931 as Christopher prepares to leave England for Germany, against the wishes of his mother Kathleen. On the train he meets Gerald Hamilton, an English ne'er-do-well of Irish descent, who suggests that Christopher take a room at the boarding house where he lives. Upon his arrival in Berlin, Christopher meets his friend Wystan Auden, who takes him to the Cosy Corner, a seedy gay club populated by hustlers.

In 1980, young George O'Dowd (Boy George) argues with his parents over his femininity and moves into a squat with Peter, who dresses as Marilyn Monroe and calls himself Marilyn. They make themselves known at Steve Strange's trendy Blitz Club where George gets a job in the cloakroom. George is unlucky in his relationships with men until he meets musician Kirk Brandon. Through Kirk, George meets the handsome drummer Jon Moss, on whom he develops a crush. Sacked by the Blitz and spurned by Kirk, George turns to Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren to further his music career. George's spell with McLaren's group Bow Wow Wow is short when the rest of the group reveal to McLaren how much they hate George. But fan Mikey Craig is impressed and asks George to sing in a group he is forming, where George again meets Jon. They have an affair and their group Culture Club becomes very successful.
