Russell Mulcahy (born 23 June 1953 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian film director. Mulcahy's work is recognizable by the use of fast cuts, tracking shots and use of glowing lights as well as being one of the most prominent music video directors of the 1980s. He has also worked in television since the early 1990s, and is currently working as a director on episodes of MTV's Teen Wolf.

Biography
Ancien monteur installé en Angleterre, il débute dans les années 1980. D’abord réalisateur de clips-vidéo, il passe plus tard à la réalisation de long-métrage, parmi lesquels : Derek and Clive Get the Horn (comédie).Il se dirige ensuite vers le cinéma de genre dans lequel il peut bien mieux s’exprimer. Razorback, un survival d’épouvante. En 1986, il réalise Highlander (science-fiction) dans lequel il dirige Christophe Lambert et Sean Connery. Le film est un succès. Plus tard, il réalise Highlander, le retour. Cette suite est massacrée par la critique, et ne rencontrera pas le même succès…

Jake Cullen (Bill Kerr) is babysitting his grandson at his house in the Australian outback when a massive razorback boar attacks him, smashing through his house and dragging away his grandson to devour alive. Jake is accused of murdering the child and while his account of the events are met with high skepticism, he is acquitted due to lack of evidence. The event destroys his credibility and reputation however and he vows revenge on the boar.

The movie opens with a hungover lifeguard, Josh (Xavier Samuel), being woken up by friend and fellow lifeguard Rory (Richard Brancatisano). Rory tells Josh that he shouldn't have proposed to his sister, Tina (Sharni Vinson), then offers to set a buoy for Josh. Josh visits Tina, who discusses their upcoming move to Singapore. As Rory boards into the ocean to set a buoy, a shark appears and kills a man in the water. Alerted to the danger, Josh quickly takes a jet ski and goes to get Rory, but is too late. Rory is squirted into the water, and Josh is unable to save him before he is devoured.
