C'est l'adaptation du roman éponyme de Tow Ubukata publié en 2016. Il raconte l'histoire de 12 adolescents garçons et filles qui se soupçonnent entre eux du meurtre de quelqu'un.
Le réalisateur déclare que le film vise avant tout à prévenir le suicide chez les jeunes qui « est un problème de société au Japon. Mais au lieu de le présenter comme cela, j'ai décidé de me concentrer un peu plus sur le divertissement et d'ajouter un élément de suspense. Ainsi, je pourrai peut-être attirer plus de spectateurs et amener les jeunes à être plus conscients du problème » car « une approche sérieuse du thème sous-tend la présentation ».
Il totalise plus de 10 millions $ de recettes au box-office japonais de 2019.
Synopsis
Douze adolescents filles et garçons se rassemblent dans un hôpital abandonné pour faire un pacte de suicide mais découvrent sur place le cadavre d'un jeune homme. Ils se mettent alors à se soupçonner entre eux du meurtre et, durant la tension, la raison de mourir de chacun est révélée.Actors

The movie opens with detective Hollis Lucetti (Terrence Howard) receiving the news from a doctor that he has been sterile his entire life. Upon reaching home, he questions his wife about who their children's father is. The film quickly switches to Gavin Nichols (Charlie Hunnam), an atheist, standing on a ledge as if to jump to his death. A small crowd forms below Gavin, and Hollis responds to the emergency. At first it looks like a regular suicide attempt. It is quickly revealed to be more complex than that, as Gavin explains to Hollis that he has no other choice than to jump, or somebody else will die.

Klaus, a former Nazi German doctor who practiced horrific experiments with children during World War II, has continued with his sick attraction for torturing and killing young boys during his exile in a remote village in Catalonia. His latest victim is a child he has tortured and later kills with a blow to the head, taking photographs of the crime. This sadistic act has been witnessed by Angelo, another of Klaus' victims, who has spied him from a window, later stealing the tortured incriminating writings and photographs of the doctor's crimes. Klaus tries to commit suicide jumping from a tower, but he survives. As a result of his failed attempt he is now unable to breathe on his own and is immobile, confined permanently in an iron lung to survive.

In 1988, businessman Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) is arrested for drunken behavior, missing his daughter's 4th birthday. In October 1986, a young woman is found raped and murdered in a ditch near a field. Soon after, another woman is found raped and murdered in a field. Local detective Park Doo-man, not having dealt with such a serious case before, is overwhelmed; key evidence is improperly collected, the police's investigative methods are suspect, and their forensic technology is near non-existent. Detective Seo Tae-yoon is sent from Seoul to assist them; their methods clash and he is unable to convince them they are dealing with a serial killer until his predictions of another murder come true. He realizes that the killer waits until a rainy night, and only kills women wearing red. A female police officer realizes that a local radio station is always requested to play a particular song during the nights the murders are committed.
