This blockbuster movie of 1985 turned as the best comedy movie in the career of actor-director Pandiarajan. The film was remade into Telugu as Naku Pellam Kavali (1987) starring Chandra Mohan and Rajendra Prasad. The film was remade in Kannada as Rama Krishna with V. Ravichandran and Jaggesh.
Synopsis
Pandian and Pandiarajan are two notorious sons of the village cinema owner V. K. Ramasamy. Pandian goes to a neighbouring village to see a girl as arranged by his father towards his marriage and ends up in the wrong house. Cinematically, those in the wrong house were also expecting a lad to see their daughter on the same-time and the same-day. Contrary to real time arranged marriages pandian goes to see the girl totally un-aided by parents, relatives & friends. Nevertheless, he takes a liking to the girl, Seetha and decides to marry her. Seetha likes the lad and decides to accept the proposal. Meanwhile, Seetha's marriage broker shows up and clarifies that Pandian was supposed to have gone to see some other girl but ended up in the wrong house. Hearing this, Pandian, Seetha as well as Seetha's parents seem disappointed. While Pandian's father fixes dates for Pandian's marriage to the girl originally chosen for him - Revathi, a school teacher's daughter. Pandian's adamance to marry Seetha causes a strange turn of events. Pandiyarajan, the younger brother, finally marries Revathi while Pandian ties the knot with this love Seetha.Actors

Gopalakrishnan (Pandiarajan), a clever cook from Coimbatore, moves to an apartment in Chennai. He becomes quickly popular and appreciated among the apartment's women, however their husbands get jealous of Gopalakrishnan. Meanwhile, he falls in love with Usha (Kushboo). He decides to marry her with the support of his neighbours. After the marriage, Usha has just learned that Gopalakrishnan was already married. Gopalakrishnan got married with a girl (Sindhu) but she was already pregnant and she eloped with her lover that very evening. Usha is upset and refuses to live with him. Later, Gopalakrishnan finds a forsaken baby (by his ex-wife) in a dustbin and leaves the baby to an orphanage. Gopalakrishnan's father (Manivannan), an army officer, comes to live with his son and he helps his son to win back Usha's heart.

Lakshmipathi (Prabhu) is a carefree youth who searches a job. His hot sister Kasthuri (Sumithra) sends him a letter from the city to rejoin her and the villagers compel him to leave the village, he leaves the village to rejoin his sister. His brother-in-law (Goundamani) finds a job as watchman for him. There, Dhanalakshmi (Revathi), his sister's young daughter, and him fall in love with each other. Kasthuri decides to meet some astrologers and they say that if Lakshmipathi marries Dhanalakshmi, he will certainly die. Kasthuri evicts him from her house and Sivaraman (Janagaraj), who is also in love with Dhanalakshmi, accommodates him without knowing his identity. Kasthuri convinces her daughter to forget him and later, Dhanalakshmi criticizes Lakshmipathi that he was not a well-educated. Sivaraman promises Dhanalakshmi that he will get them together. Meanwhile, Lakshmipathi returns to his village. Dhanalakshmi sends a letter, mentioning that she will marry another man. Lakshmipathi stops her marriage, convinces his sister and marry her but she dies immediately because she had taken poison by then.

Velayudham (Pandiarajan) and his cousin Valli (Priya Raman) are in love since their childhood. Her father Rathnasamy (R. Sundarrajan) hates Velayudham and looks for a groom for his daughter. One day, Velayudham and Valli try to elope but Rathnasamy finally capture them. Vexed by this misadventure, Velayudham leaves his village to Palani in order to find a job with the help of his friend Kunju Khader (Charle). Kunju Khader turns out to be a pickpocket. In a twist of fate, Velayudham steals a bag. In this bag, there are barber tools and Velayudham becomes a street barber. Soon, Cheena the bag's owner catches Velayudham. Velayudham lies and Cheena brings him to his house. There, Velayudham becomes his apprentice. Cheena's daughter Amudha falls in love with Velayudham. What transpires next forms the rest of the story.

The story revolves around three unemployed people (the third is a middle-aged unsuccessful theatre owner). The story opens with the arrival of Sivaraman (Prabhu) in Chennai to dispute the denial of his company job which he was supposed to receive several years ago.
