Darkon premiered and won the Best Documentary Audience Award at the 2006 South By Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Darkon is an official selection playing at Hot Docs, Maryland Film Festival, Silverdocs, LA Film Festival, Britdoc and Melbourne International Film Festival.
The film was produced by Ovie Entertainment and SeeThink Films.
John Hodgman was hired to write a scripted film adaptation of the documentary. However plans fell through, but an excerpt of the unproduced screenplay was read on his podcast Judge John Hodgman.

King Kelly is a teenage webcam porn performer, reveling in the attention and tips from her assorted admirers. Away from the webcam, she films herself constantly with her cellphone's camera, while also being paid to transport drugs around Long Island. Kelly and Jordan go to a friend's party, where Kelly flirts with Jordan's boyfriend, and learns from her drug contact that if she doesn't recover the drugs – which are not pills as she believed, but $20K of heroin – then the owner of said drugs will kill her.
