Off the coast of Alaska, oceanographer Emma MacNeil (Deborah Gibson) is studying the migration patterns of whales aboard an experimental submarine she took without permission from her employer. Meanwhile, a military helicopter drops experimental sonar transmitters into the water, causing a pod of whales to go out of control and start ramming a nearby glacier. In the chaos, the helicopter crashes into the glacier, and the combined damage breaks the glacier open, thawing two hibernating, prehistoric creatures. MacNeil narrowly avoids destruction as, unknown to her, a giant shark and octopus are freed. Some time later, a drilling platform off the coast of Japan is attacked by the octopus, which has tentacles large enough to wrap around the entire structure. After returning to Point Dume, California, MacNeil investigates the corpse of a beached whale covered with many bloody wounds. Her employer Dick Richie (Mark Hengst) believes them to be from a tanker propeller, but MacNeil insists they appear to be from a creature. Later, she extracts what appears to be a shark’s tooth from one of the wounds. Elsewhere, the huge shark leaps tens of thousands of feet into the air from the ocean and attacks a commercial aircraft, forcing it to crash into the water., 1h31

Harpooner Ishmael (Corey Sevier) joins Ahab (Danny Glover) and his crew on the Pequod, in this instance an armored land boat that hunts for dragons. The seven-strong crew ostensibly seeks the precious "vitriol", a highly explosive liquid substance found inside the fire-breathing winged creatures, which powers the mythical realm they live in. Ishmael joins their quest, and soon learns that in fact, Ahab's mission is one of revenge on a particular great white dragon that decades ago scarred and injured him, and also killed his sister. Forced to hide from the sunlight due to the burn wounds on his body, Ahab now tries to kill all dragons, and especially the white one. Conflict arises through a romantic entanglement between Ishmael and Ahab's adopted daughter, Rachel (Sofia Pernas), which causes hostility from the jealous hothead Flask (Larry Bagby). In the white dragon's lair, Ahab's secrets are revealed and Rachel must choose between following him on his dark quest or escaping to a new life with Ishmael. She chooses the latter and in a final confrontation, Ahab's spear, which was tied to his foot, becomes entangled in the White Dragon's neck. The creature flies off with a screaming Ahab, until he is slammed against a rock pillar and silenced. The white dragon flies off into the distance, with Ahab's body clinging on to it., 1h33

The small Alaskan town of Beaver Mills is located just north of the Arctic Circle, meaning that the sun does not set during the summer solstice. As the town prepares for its annual celebration of this event, a wyvern is awakened by the melting of the ice caps, and attacks a fisherman. Jake (Nick Chinlund), a handyman fixing the cafe where Claire (Erin Karpluk), hurts his hand and David (David Lewis), the town's doctor, examines it. While driving back to town, David is attacked by the wyvern. The next morning, Sheriff Dawson (John Shaw) and Jake hear gunshots and find Haas (Barry Corbin), a redneck attacked by the wyvern. Colonel (Don S. Davis), who has seen the Wyvern, goes to town to warn the citizens; but they disbelieve him, and he goes to kill it. Dawson radios to his Deputy Susie (Elaine Miles) to watch the town, but fails to convey his meaning. Dawson finds his friend dead, and returns. At the town, the wyvern kills Susie and several other people. Jake, Claire, Haas, and the eccentric Edin (Karen Austin) take shelter in the cafe. Later, Hampton (Tinsel Korey), who runs the town's radio, and Farley (Simon Longmore), another citizen, hide in the cafe. Sheriff Dawson is killed by the wyvern. Jake and Claire track the wyvern into the woods, where they find the Colonel, and discover the wyvern is killing anyone on the Interstate. Farley is injured trying to get supplies. The wyvern then uses David, still alive, as bait to draw people from the cafe. Jake goes to rescue him, and Farley distracts the wyvern to save them, but is eaten. David tells the group the Wyvern has eggs, and dies of his injuries. The survivors decide to electrify the nest, but the wyvern kills Haas. Jake takes a truck left on the side of the road and, using the eggs as bait, kills the wyvern. Jake, Claire, Colonel, Hampton, and Edin try again to radio for help., 1h29

Thorin and his company are being pursued by Azog and his Orc party following the events of the previous film. They are ushered along by Gandalf to the nearby home of Beorn, a skin-changer who can take the form of the bear. That night, Azog is summoned to Dol Guldur by the Necromancer, who commands him to marshal his forces for war. Azog then delegates the hunt for Thorin to his son Bolg. The following day, Beorn escorts the company to the borders of Mirkwood, where Gandalf discovers Black Speech imprinted on an old ruin. This coincides with a telepathic message from Galadriel urging him to investigate the tombs of the Nazgûl. He warns the company to remain on the path and leaves them. Upon entering the forest they lose their way and are ensnared by giant spiders. Bilbo then sets about freeing the dwarves with the help of his recently acquired invisibility ring. He subsequently drops the Ring and first begins to understand its dark influence after he brutally kills a centipede-like creature to retrieve it., 1h18

The plot of the animated production is in most respects similar to that of the book, which was already styled as a classic children's novel, and so is adapted in that vein for a younger audience; but certain plot points are significantly compressed due to the time limitations of the format. In addition, certain scenes are obviously edited for commercial breaks. In general, alterations include simple omission of additional detail, as the producers expressed their desire to adhere to the written text, including lyrics adapted from the songs in the book but in much longer and greater format.
