Synopsis
Shenbagam (Shantipriya), the landlord's daughter, and Seethan (Ramarajan), an orphan milkman, were both in love but they didn't express it directly. Seethan was brought up by Maruthamuthu (Vinu Chakravarthy). When Shenbagam's father decides to engage her with a rich groom, she commits suicide.Actors

Kalimuthu (Ramarajan) is the lead singer of a group performing Villu Paatu. The village head (Shanmugasundaram) decides to reconstruct the tumbledown village temple and gives Kalimuthu responsibility for funding money. Finally, the music director Ilaiyaraaja helps them financially. Then, Kalimuthu approaches a reputed sculptor (M. N. Nambiar) from another village. The sculptor and his daughter Abhirami (Rani) come to their village. Later, Kalimuthu and Abhirami fall in love with each other. Abhirami's father wants to marry Abhirami to his nephew Rajasekharan (Chandrasekhar) while the village head's son Chelladurai (Vikas Rishi), a womanizer, has an eye for Abhirami. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

Kamatchi is a South Indian village girl who is about to get married. Her marriage is stopped due to dowry problem and hence her aunt marries off her son Selvaraj to Kamatchi. On the nuptial night Kamatchi suddenly screams when her husband approached her and blabbers in some unknown language which Selvaraj cannot understand. Selvaraj looks at the mirror by chance and shocks on seeing a reflection of a strange woman in the place of his wife and rushes to bring the village excorcist. The excorcist confirms that Kamatchi is possessed by a spirit and attempts to drive it. But the spirit introduces itself as a girl named Marian Ma from Singapore and tells him that Selvaraj's father who is working in Singapore is in terrible danger and Selvaraj must go to Singapore to save him. Selvaraj reminds of a letter written by his father stating that he is in danger. Selvaraj decides to leave Singapore along with his wife and the exorcist. Marian Ma tells that she will possess his wife during night time and leave her during dawn. Selvaraj ensures that Kamatchi does not know about her condition.

Muniyandi (Selva) and Pandiamma (Ranjitha) are in love since many years. Muniyandi always wins his village's bull race against Minor Rajapandi (Pandiyan). Rajapandi is the village's richest man and has an eye on Pandiamma. Muniyandi's mother Angamma looks for a bride for his son and she finally finds the daughter of a rich man Vijaya (Viji). Muthu (Prabhu) and Veerasamy (Chandrasekhar) are fishermen and they fish together in the same boat. Muthu lives with his mother (S. N. Lakshmi). Veerasamy drinks lot of alcohol and he has a sister, Meena (Kasthuri) who is in love with Muthu. Muthu decides to marry his carefree friend Veerasamy to Ponni (Chithra). In a financial trouble, Veerasamy joins Kumar's boat, Kumar (Radha Ravi) is a rich fishermen union leader. Veerasamy realizes that Meena is in love with Muthu and he promises to Muthu his sister's hand. Meanwhile, Kumar asks Veerasamy to marry Meena, compelled by his wife, Veerasamy accepts. Hopeless, Meena ties to herself a Thaali, she says to Veerasamy that Muthu marries her and Muthu confirms to save her honor. Veerasamy gets angry but when Muthu says the truth, he apologizes to him. Kumar beats Muthu's mother and kidnaps Meena, he arranges a forced marriage between him and Meena. Muthu saves her and he marry her with his best friend blessing.
