Immigrant Nation! The Battle for the Dream is a 2010 feature documentary movie by Esaú Meléndez about the immigrant rights movement from 2006 to 2009 and Elvira Arellano's resistance to deportation. It opened on 2010-03-06 in Washington, DC, at the DC Independent Film Festival. The film includes stories of individuals, organizations, activists and community leaders. It includes coverage of anti-immigrant activists, but more coverage of those "united by passion and a concern for justice." This film features the opposition to the controversial HR4437 immigration bill, especially the march to Batavia, Illinois, to decry Speaker Dennis Hastert's blockage of comprehensive immigration reform.

The film is centered on unionized meatpacking workers at Hormel Foods in Austin, Minnesota between 1985 and 1986. Hormel had cut the hourly wage from $10.69 to $8.25 and cut benefits by 30 percent despite posting a net profit of $30 million. The local union (P-9) opposed the cut, but the national union, the United Food and Commercial Workers, disagreed with their strategy.

The film examines the career of John Negroponte, focusing primarily on his time as U.S. Ambassador to Honduras in the early 1980s. It brings to light the militaristic aspects of his service in the region in relation to the Reagan Doctrine. Interviews with numerous Central American human rights activists point to Negroponte’s alleged complicity in war crimes not only in his nation of diplomatic assignment, but also in neighboring El Salvador as a part of the Salvadoran Civil War and in Nicaragua as an aid to the Contras. The documentary covers forced disappearance as part of this involvement including the disappearance of 179 Hondurans and specific examples such as the case of Father James Carney, whose brother is interviewed. The film also contains interviews with former U.S. Ambassador to Honduras Jack R. Binns, Negroponte’s predecessor; indigenous Guatemalan activist Rigoberta Menchú, and Salvadoran bishop Medardo Gomez.
