It is a military comedy about an unfortunate army intelligence lieutenant who finds himself isolated on a remote Japanese island army outpost during World War II. It stars Jim Hutton and Paula Prentiss and was directed by Richard Thorpe.
It was the last of four teamings between Hutton and Prentiss following Where the Boys Are, The Honeymoon Machine and Bachelor in Paradise.
Synopsis
Merle Wye, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed in Hawaii, is attracted to nurse Molly Blue, but she barely gives him the time of day.Actors

À Hawaï, Merle Wye, un lieutenant du service de renseignement de l'armée, tombe amoureux d'une infirmière, Molly Blue, une ancienne camarade d'école. The film tells the story of a mixed group of Army nurses stationed in Bataan during World War II. At the beginning of the film, the head nurse, Lt. Mary Smith (Margaret Sullavan) begs her superior, Capt. Alice Marsh (Fay Bainter) for more nurses to help deal with the excessive workload, but instead of professional nurses, she is assigned a group of civilians from various backgrounds. They lack experience and require training and find it difficult to settle in. Pat Conlin (Ann Sothern) rebels against Lt. Smith's strict nature, but the group begin to reveal stories from their past and become better acquainted. They also meet a male officer, Lt. Holt (Allan Byron), and Pat becomes infatuated with him, leading to jealousy between her and Lt. Smith who refuses to explain why she is offended by Pat's attention to him. During an air-raid one of the volunteers, Sue West (Dorothy Morris), is separated from the group, and some of the women, including her sister Andra (Heather Angel) search for her. After three days she is found alive, having spent the time trapped in a hut with the corpses of several soldiers who were killed during the attack.

In January 1942 (a month after the United States has entered World War II), reporter John Royer (James Stewart) returns to the United States. Au début du Moyen Âge, les steppes de Russie sont sous la domination des Tartares, qui ne permettent qu'aux Vikings de passer en provenance des pays du nord. L'alliance est rompue lorsqu'Oleg, le chef des Vikings, refuse de se joindre à Togrul le Tartare dans sa guerre contre les Slaves. Oleg tue Togrul et prend sa fille Samia en otage. Le frère de Togrul, Burandai, devenu chef, capture en représailles Helga, la femme d'Oleg, et la livre à ses hommes. Un échange de prisonniers est envisagé mais Samia est tombé amoureuse d'Éric, le jeune frère d'Oleg, et ne veut pas partir. De plus Helga est incapable de supporter sa honte et se jette du haut d'une tour. Oleg et Éric se disputent à propos du sort de Samia, mais ils sont interrompus par l'arrivée des Tartares. Oleg et Burandai trouvent la mort dans la bataille qui s'ensuit et la forteresse viking est détruite par un incendie. Éric et Samia arrivent à s'échapper et trouvent refuge sur un navire qui les conduit dans le Grand Nord.
