Synopsis

Akelinder or Bhangari Dada (Kader Khan) has a shop at Chor bazaar which he runs illegally, he lives with his wife and only daughter Kiran (Raveena Tandon). Bhangari wants his daughter to be married to a gangster, so he begins his search. He finds Shakti dada (Shakti Kapoor) and wants him to be married to Kiran but Kiran already loves Raj (Govinda), a wealthy man who has no links to crime. But in order to satisfy her dad, she persuades Raj to pose as a Gangster for time being. For this they search a Trainer called Subramaniam (Johnny Lever), who teaches Raj to act as a Gangster. Finally Raj becomes successful posing as a gangster but Bhangari's dad (Kader Khan) somehow appears and doesn't want Kiran to marry to a gangster.

Shaadiram Gharjode (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) is once humiliated by Hoshiyar Chand (Kader Khan) when Shaadiram goes to inform him about a family wanting to marry their son to Hoshiyar's daughter. Hoshiyar Chand insults them as he wants both his daughters to marry into the richest family. Gharjode decides to teach Hoshiyar Chand a lesson: He meets a coolie called Raju (Govinda) and they go to Hoshiyar Chand's village pretending to be a rich family. Hoshiyar is impressed and he wants his daughter Malti (Karisma Kapoor) to marry Raju. This leads to humorous situations in the climax.

Sher Singh a.k.a. Shekhar(Govinda), a struggling movie scriptwriter, is in love with a temperamental girl Nisha (Raveena Tandon). However, Nisha's wealthy father arranges her marriage to his friend's son Vicky (Rajendranath Zutshi). Sher Singh rushes home in response to a telegram to find that his marriage has been arranged with a local girl, Sweetie (Mahima Chaudhary), in return for his sister's marriage to Sweetie's brother. A woman Neha (Ramya Krishnan) witnesses the murder of a friend of her named Madhu (Divya Dutta) by a notorious smuggler Zorawar (Paresh Rawal) but she skips while being chased by Zorawar's goons and ends up in the secure custody of police inspector Arjun Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), a friend of police inspector Pyare Mohan (Govinda). In reality, Neha, unaware of their identities, believes Arjun to be "Pyare", about whom she was agreeably apprised of by Madhu, and so, Arjun has to impersonate Pyare, giving rise to hilarious situations. Concurrently, Pyare flirts with Seema (Raveena Tandon) - Arjun's sister. Everything could have been passable for the two cops if two lookalikes of the cops, by the nicknames "Bade Miyan" (Amitabh Bachchan) and "Chote Miyan" (Govinda) had not been a cause of concern for them because of the misdeeds they commit leading to Arjun and Pyare being accused as the miscreants everytime. With background scores of the songs (specially "Bade Miyan Toh Bade Miyan") that stir the listeners, the movie advances through scenes of thrill and amusement.

Gopi (Govinda) is a simpleton from Banaras. He gets married to a foreign returned Madhu (Ramya) . He is the family and faithful type. She is a daredevil, happy-go-lucky type. He represents the Indian values. She would not mind taking a dive in the village pond in a bikini. One day it was her birthday party and she starts drinking and dancing. He goes to Singapore and other foreign locales to hunt for the runaway bride. They keep meeting off and on. He also succeeds in making her pregnant and preventing the doctor from aborting the child. She delivers a baby-boy. In the meanwhile, he becomes rich and famous. He now walks away with the 15-days-old kid and comes back to his village and threatens to marry again. The stage is set for his re-marriage. She appears on the scene. She wants the child back. Confrontation, She says she cannot live without the child. He says if she cannot live without her 15-days-old child then why did she want to separate his mother from her child. She realises her mistake.
