The story of Aik Gunahoon Ka Shehr revolves round a young man (Ahmed Butt) fascinated by city life and the thrills it has to offer. Once there, unemployment eventually leads him to join a gang of blackmailers involved in sex crimes, in turn leading to his ruin.
Kites Grounded is a film about an old kite maker Chacha Kareem. Passionately in love with his craft, Kareem is a quiet, conflict avoiding man. Having lived all his life making kites and mastering the art, he is forced upon giving up his job to meet the need of time.
The film opens with a scene where fiery criminal lawyer Meera is being gang-raped to put a rapist behind bars, but the judge rules against her. Though the rapist walks free, is there a power who can save him from the justice of the “Billi” — a shadowy figure dressed in a black cat-suit who has taken to the streets at night rounding up all scum and sleaze and dishing out her own brand of justice to chilling effect.
Hum Eik Hain begins with an Aaan showing Badshahi Mosque and other parts of Lahore with rather badly photographed (and badly lit) clips. The titles end on Shan (Mustafa) who is the muezzin. He is educated, wears jeans and is looking for a job. But he can't get a job even with repeated interviews. The academic degrees are not even worth good enough to be sold as waste paper. Trash must go to trash and the degrees are burnt alive in a rage of disappointment and frustration. There seems to be plenty of fire around at nights around Lahore with flames burning inside large empty drums (read 'a heavy symbolism of hero's agony').
