Matthew Jay Roach (born June 14, 1957) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter, best known for directing the Austin Powers films and Meet the Parents.

Biography

Carrière
Son premier succès sera la comédie Austin Powers réalisée en 1997 parodiant James Bond ; le film sera servi par Mike Myers et Elizabeth Hurley.

Il sera d'un très bon succès commercial qui donnera lieu à deux suites.

En 1999, il revient avec le second opus de la série à succès Austin Powers 2 : L'Espion qui m'a tirée ; toujours avec le même succès, le film reprend « là où nous avions laissé Austin » dans le premier. Heather Graham sera cette fois au rendez-vous.

Toujours en 1999, Jay Roach réalise Mystery, Alaska qui aura un petit succès ; le film se passe en Alaska dans la petite ville de Mystery.

En 2000, il revient avec une grosse comédie à succès, Mon beau-père et moi, au casting hollywoodien composé de Robert De Niro et Ben Stiller.

Tim Conrad (Paul Rudd) is a mid-level financial executive, who comes up with a way (via special novelty lamps) to invite wealthy Swiss businessman Martin Mueller (David Walliams) to become a client of his firm. Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Stiller) is preparing to celebrate his twins' fifth birthday party. Things seem to go awry when Greg's father-in-law Jack Byrnes (De Niro) visits. Her husband, Gene (Ken Howard) confesses that he has tried to cheat on her twice. Noah's grandmother, Helen Cooper (Selma Stern) dies, and at the funeral Noah and Maryiln debate. Noah gets moved by his mother's words and realises that his decision not to have a baby was wrong and rushes to Clare to apologize. The film ends with Marylin and Myron moving in together elsewhere.
