Leonid Vyacheslavovich Kuravlyov (Russian: Леонид Вячеславович Куравлёв) (born October 8, 1936) is a Soviet/Russian actor and People's Artist of the RSFSR (1976).
Leonid Kuravlyov was born in Moscow in 1936. In 1941, Kuravlyov's mother was falsely accused and exiled to the Russian North, where they would spend several years until their return to Moscow. In 1955, Leonid Kuravlyov was accepted to the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography and began studying the art of acting.
Leonid n'est pas un élève brillant. Et surtout il n'aime pas les sciences exactes. Par boutade, sa sœur l'invite de venir étudier à l'Institut national de la cinématographie (VGIK). Cette blague a changé toute la vie de Leonid.
En 1953, le jeune homme passe le concours d'entrée au VGIK, à la Faculté des Acteurs, mais se voit recalé. Il réussit en 1955 et intègre la classe de maître de Boris Bibikov et le Théâtre national d'acteur de cinéma. Ses débuts au cinéma ont lieu alors qu'il est encore étudiant, dans une séquence du court métrage Il n'y aura pas de départ aujourd'hui d'Andreï Tarkovski.
Un demi-siècle plus tard, il a plus de 170 films à son actif.
Le 11 mars 2014, Kouravlev, avec d'autres artistes, se prononce en faveur de la politique de la Fédération de Russie lors de la Révolution ukrainienne de février 2014 et de la crise de Crimée, en signant une lettre ouverte publiée sur le site du Ministère de la Culture de Russie.

En 1941, Leonid et sa mère sont déportés au Goulag, dans le nord de la Russie (Zacheïek de l'oblast de Mourmansk), sur de fausses accusations. The film is set in post-WWII Moscow. Lieutenant Vladimir Sharapov (Vladimir Konkin) is a young reconnaissance officer and a decorated war hero who has just returned from the war and is assigned to peacetime service with the famous MUR (Moscow Department of Criminal Investigations). There he becomes part of an elite detective team led by the brilliant, tough, no-nonsense Captain Gleb Zheglov (Vysotsky). The duo becomes embroiled in two seemingly separate investigations: that of the murder of young aspiring actress Larisa Gruzdeva, and the hunt for a vicious gang of armed robbers that calls itself "Black Cat" and constantly manages to evade capture.

The story begins in 1973 Moscow, where Engineer Aleksandr (Shurik) Timofeev (Aleksandr Demyanenko) is working on a time machine in his apartment. By accident, he sends Ivan Vasilevich Bunsha (Yuri Yakovlev), superintendent of his apartment building, and George Miloslavsky (Leonid Kuravlev), a small-time burglar, back into the time of Ivan IV "The Terrible". The pair is forced to disguise themselves, with Bunsha dressing up as Ivan IV and Miloslavsky as a knyaz of the same name. At the same time, the real Ivan IV (also played by Yuri Yakovlev) is sent by the same machine into Shurik's apartment, he has to deal with modern-day life while Shurik tries to fix the machine so that everyone can be brought back to their proper place in time. Superintendent Bunsha and Tzar Ivan IV the Terrible are lookalikes but have completely different personalities, which results in funny situations of mistaken identity. As the police (tipped off by a neighbor who was burgled by Miloslavsky) close in on Shurik, who is frantically trying to repair the machine, the cover of Bunsha and Miloslavsky is blown and they have to fight off the Streltsy, who have figured out that Bunsha is an impostor. The movie ends with Bunsha, Miloslavsky, and Ivan IV all transported back to their proper places, although the entire episode is revealed to be a dream by Shurik.

12 February 1945, Germany. Max Otto von Stierlitz, a respected SS-Standartenführer in the Ausland-SD, is in fact Soviet spy Maxim Isaev, who has infiltrated into the German establishment.
