Mehul Kumar is an Indian filmmaker, film director, producer and writer in Bollywood.

Mehul Kumar’s directorial debut was a bilingual Hindi - Gujrati film Janam Janam Na Saathi (1977) (Gujrati) and Phir Janam Lenge Hum (Hindi). This movie was produced by Aamir Khan's father Tahir Hussain. After the success of Janam Janam Na Saathi Mehul Kumar directed a series of super hit Gujrati Films. Over the years he directed eighteen Gujrati movies majority of them being super hit.
Mehul Kumar then started off with his second Hindi project Anokha Bandhan (1982). After that he directed many hit movies with actors like Dharmendra, Jeetandra, Anil Kapoor, Meenasakshi, Shabana Azmi, Madhuri Dixit, Shatrugan Sinha, Mehmood, Firoz Khan and many more.

Then came Mehul Kumar's blockbuster golden jubilee hit Marte Dam Tak (1987) which starred Raj Kumar, Govinda and Farah. After the success of Marte Dam Tak came Jungbaaz, Nafrat ki Aandhi and a string of back to back films in the '80s. In the '90s he made super hit cult films like Tirangaa starring Raj Kumar and Nana Patekar (1992).Then followed Krantiveer (1993) based on the Mumbai Riots. Krantiveer reached a whole another success level and also gave Nana Patekar a National Award for his performance.

After Krantiveer, Mehul Kumar then directed ABCL’s debut venture Mrityudaata (1997) which Amitabh Bachan's comeback film after five years. Which flopped at the box-office. He brought Nana Patekar and Amitabh Bachchan together in Kohram (1999). Although the film flopped, it is still remembered till date for its amazing casting. As this was the first time where these two great actors shared the screen space. He made Kitne Door Kitne Paas (2002), which fared well. His next film Jaago (2004) was based on a real life incident and was one of the first films to make the people aware of the deadly disease of rape.

He has also produced some of his films like Tirangaa (1992), Krantiveer (1993), Kohram (1999) and Jaago (2004).

His latest film was Kranitveer The Revolution in 2010. It was a sequel to the highly successful award winning Krantiveer (1993). Where he also introduced his daughter Jahan Bloch.

Kumar has worked with some of the most noted film actors in Bollywood, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Madhuri Dixit, Naseeruddin Shah, Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor. Some of his famous works include Tiranga, Krantiveer, Kohram.

After a long day in school, ten-year-old Shruti Varma is accidentally locked in the school house, and by the time she is found and released, it is already night time. She boards a commuter train home, with an elderly couple and their daughter being her only company in the compartment. Then a trio of three young men, drug-hazed and violent, enter the wagon, notice the young girl and brutally gang-rape her. The other passengers are too timid to intervene; only after the culprits have left the train do they call the police. Shruti is taken to a hospital, but the trauma of the rape proves too much for her to bear, and she eventually dies from a massive shock in front of her anguished parents, Shrikant and Shradha Varma.

The story starts with the death of an army officer (Shroff) occurs and it is believed to be the act of a terrorist group headed by Changezi (Rishi). Colonel Balbir Singh Sodhi (Bachchan) is asked to investigate this matter and he ends up discovering that minister Veerbhadra Singh(Danny Denzongpa) is involved in this conspiracy. Colonel Sodhi stages his own death in an attempt to kill Changezi and starts living as Dadabhai/ Devraj Hathoda in Mumbai. Major Ajit Arya (Patekar) is sent in the guise of a Bengali journalist to find out the true identity of Dadabhai/Devraj Hathoda. Once Arya discovers the truth, he joins hands with Colonel Sodhi to bring the minister to justice and terminate the terrorist group. Tabu is shown to be a police officer in love with Major Ajit Arya and Jayapradha is shown as Colonel Sodhi's wife.

Customs Officer Bharat Srivastav lives a middle-class life with his sister Rajni; wife Sangita and a small son. Rajni is soon to get married to Inspector Gautam. He is known for his unorthodox methods of apprehending smugglers, and it is these methods that land him in trouble with the Shikari brothers (Tejaa, Dharma, Tinnu, Chinnu and Pappu). Bharat decides to oppose them, and as a result the Shikari brothers recruit false eyewitnesses, pay them to give false testimonies and get the complaint dismissed. When Bharat persists, his family is abducted and subsequently killed. Bharat manages to kill some of the culprits, however, is arrested, found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. On the way to prison, the vehicle meets with an accident, killing everyone on board. Relieved at the death of their nemesis, the Shikari brothers celebrate - only to find out that they now have a new unknown enemy - an enemy who will kill them one by one - for an unknown reason. Pratap Tilak(Nana Patekar) is the grandson of Bheeshmanarayan Tilak a freedom fighter. Pratap starts gambling and this leads to a spoiling attack of Bheeshmanarayan as he dies. Pratap's mother Durgadevi(Farida Jalal) enraged of all this asks him to leave the village and go away. Pratap comes to Mumbai where he saves life of chawl owner, Laxminath's(Paresh Rawal) son Atul(Atul Agnihotri). Laxminath decides to keep Pratap with him. When they grow up Atul falls in love with Mamta(Mamta Kulkarni), who is the daughter of a builder named Yograj(Tinu Anand). Pratap keeps laughing at press reporter Megha Dixit (Dimple Kapadia) who lives in the chawl and keeps on fighting injustice by writing about it in newspapers. Pratap teaches people to become strong and fight for themselves instead of waiting for other people to help them. Chattursingh Chita(Danny Denzongpa) and Yograj plan to build a resort and the place they arrange communal riots mass killings and burn the houses of people. Laxminath is murdered by Chattursingh Chita. Pratap learns that Megha's parents were murdered by Chattursingh Chita and she was raped by him. He proposes marriage to her. Mamta leaves her father's house and comes to Atul's house. Pratap kills the corrupted ministers, the judge and the police officer. He is caught and ordered to be hanged till death. Chattursingh Chita plans to kill Pratap but dies by Pratap's hands. This story is about a brave person who decides to face injustice and is ready to lay his lifedown for this cause.

After the death of his first wife, Mr. Verma remarries Durgadevi (Bindu), so that she can look after his son, Ravi (Jeetendra). Subsequently, Durga also gets pregnant and gives birth to a son Kiran. After few years as Mr. Verma passes away, Durga decides to enter into politics with the help of Sewakram (Prem Chopra). The film starts with the kidnapping of three nuclear scientists by Pralayanath Gendaswamy (Deepak Shirke) as he plans to build nuclear missiles for an invasion on India. Meanwhile Deputy Inspector General of Police Rudrapratap Chouhan (Suresh Oberoi) an honest police officer is murdered by Pralayanath Gendaswamy since he has been on his hitlist. Kishan, who lives with his sister, Reshmi, runs a Gas Station in Srinagar. One day while returning home he hears cries of help from a woman in a jeep. He chases and overtakes the jeep, and rescues the woman from four hoodlums. He finds out that the woman is Anita, who has run away from her cruel uncle who wanted to sell her for a large sum of money. Kishan permits her to live with them, and soon both fall in love with each other. Then their lives are turned upside down when Naag Raj, one of the hoodlums who had attempted to molest Anita, returns and sexually assaults Reshmi. When Kishan comes to her rescue, he ends up killing one of the men, and setting fire to the Gas Station, while Naag Raj absconds. The Police arrest Kishan and he is sent to prison for several years. A pregnant Anita attempts to kill herself, but is rescued by Delhi-based Police Inspector Ranjit Malik, who subsequently marries her and allows her to give birth to a baby boy, Vikrant alias Vicky. Ranjit gets transferred to Bombay to nab an underworld Don by the name of King. Vicky is recruited as a Police Inspector with Bombay Police. One day Ravi is appointed on a special duty to safe-guard valuable antic jewelers, Chandi Das want to acquire those jewelers so he kidnaps Ravi & Sonu’s children and asks Ravi to get that Jewelers but Ravi doesn’t surrender to them so they will kill Sonu’s child as warning, Radha also dies seeing the death of her child. Sonu becomes a fire and want to take revenge against Chandi Das & his gang even though Ravi tries to stop him but Sonu doesn't listen to him, because he lot everything in the life, he starts killing Chandi Das gangsters one by one. There Ravi makes a plan to catch them he agrees to give the jewellers to Chandi Das but they keep him in their custody at the same time Sonu saves him, Ravi and Sonu both joins together sees end of Chandi Das but Sonu sacrifices his life to protect Ravi’s child.

Courteous Police Inspector Rane intent on arresting notorious gangster P.C. Mathur finds himself on trial for murder and sentenced to seven years behind bars, of course being framed for the murder by his enemy.
