Rena Owen (born 22 July 1962) is a New Zealand actress in theatre, television and film. Owen is best known for her leading role as Beth Heke in Lee Tamahori's Once Were Warriors and as Nee Alavar in George Lucas's Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith .
Elle tient ensuite l'un des rôles principaux de la série Adrénaline de 1996 à 1998 et est nommée à l'AFI Award de la meilleure actrice dans un second rôle pour Dance Me to My Song (1999). Biography
Née d'un père maori et d'une mère anglo-saxonne, Rena Owen grandit au sein d'une famille de neuf enfants. Elle fait des études d'infirmière et part ensuite pour Londres, où elle joue dans des pièces de théâtre avant de revenir en Nouvelle-Zélande en 1988. Elle joue beaucoup au théâtre avant d’interpréter le premier rôle féminin dans le film L'Âme des guerriers (1994), rôle pour lequel elle est acclamée par la critique et récompensée des prix de la meilleure actrice au Festival des films du monde de Montréal et à Fantasporto.Elle tient ensuite l'un des rôles principaux de la série Adrénaline de 1996 à 1998 et est nommée à l'AFI Award de la meilleure actrice dans un second rôle pour Dance Me to My Song (1999). In the late 21st century, global warming has flooded coastlines, drastically reducing the human population. There is a new class of robots called Mecha, advanced humanoids capable of emulating thoughts and emotions. David (Haley Joel Osment), a prototype model created by Cybertronics of New Jersey, is designed to resemble a human child and to display love for its human owners. They test their creation with one of their employees, Henry Swinton (Sam Robards), and his wife Monica (Frances O'Connor). The Swintons' son, Martin (Jake Thomas), was placed in suspended animation until a cure can be found for his rare disease which is caused by the Sinclair virus. Initially frightened of David, Monica eventually warms enough to him to activate his imprinting protocol, which irreversibly causes David to have an enduring childlike love for her. He is also befriended by Teddy (Jack Angel), a robotic teddy bear, who takes it upon himself to care for David's well-being.

The story follows the saga of a 35-year old teacher who quickly falls in love with a 13-year old student she comes to believe is her soul mate. The 13-year old student is a troubled artist Vili (Omar Anguiano). Their relationship begins in Mary Kay's classroom, when she sees that Vili is a very talented artist. She later confides in him that her father, whom she loves very much, has cancer. Her husband, Steve Letourneau, was not supportive upon hearing this information at all, simply asking Mary Kay sarcastically what he was supposed to do about it. As Mary Kay begins to trust Vili more and more, the more forceful his flirtation becomes.

Jake "the Muss" Heke is now fighting to save his son Sonny from a gang lifestyle after his eldest son, Nig, is killed in a gangland shootout. Jake goes through a period of hopelessness as he tries to restore his family to a functioning state after his anger, drinking, and violence (depicted in the first film) tore them apart. He still has trouble accepting the old traditional ways of the Māori people, but he begins to realise the importance of family and regrets what his former actions have done to them. Towards the end of the film, Jake does his best to reconcile with his family, even going so far as to save his son's life despite great personal risk to himself. This action, along with several others, serve to highlight Jake's changing characteristics.
