Naa Desam (Telugu: నా దేశం) (lit. My Country) is a 1982 Telugu action-drama film directed by K. Bapaiah. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao and Jayasudha in the lead roles, with Kaikala Satyanarayana, Giribabu and Prabhakar Reddy playing other important roles. It is the remake of the 1981 Bollywood blockbuster Laawaris, with NTR and Jayasudha reprising the roles played in the original by Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman respectively. The music was composed by Chakravarthi. The film released on 27 October 1982 and was successful at the box office. This was the last film which NTR acted in before he became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Synopsis

Left in the care of an alcoholic Kailasham (Prabhakar Reddy), a young orphan named Bharath wrestles with life in his young age. Years later, now a young man (NTR), Bharath works for Prathap Rao (Kaikala Satyanarayana) and is in love with Mohini (Jayasudha), who will not have anything to do with him due to his lack of ancestry. Bharath is determined to find out who his parents are, and the only one who can help him is the elusive, alcohol-induced and incoherent Kailasham.

Gummadi and Sivakrishna are brothers. Shivakrishna is a socialist and wants to spend the property for the poor, whereas Gummadi is a very selfish man. Their differences lead to the death of Sivakrishna as planned by Raogopal Rao, Allu and Chalapati Rao. Chakravarthi (Sobhan Babu) is the son of Gummadi and Tilak (Krishna) is the son of Sivakrishna. Tilak joins as a worker in the company of Gummadi. Jayaprada is the niece of Gummadi and she falls in love with Tilak. Chakravarthi loves Sridevi, daughter of a teacher in their company. The villains have issues with Tilak. The resulting conflict between Chakravarthi and Tilak finally leads to the revelation of their relationship and a happy ending.

Kishan (Rajesh Khanna) is the spoilt son of a rich businessman. He is a medical student, for whom the life is all about playing pranks and troubling people around. Finally he is taught a lesson in humility by fellow student, Madhu (Hema Malini). He undergoes a dramatic change in outlook and falls in love with her. But his joy is short-lived as Kapilkumar (Danny Denzongpa) kills Madhu as she is the only witness to a murder. On the deathbead, Kishan promises Madhu that he would kill whoever is responsible for the death. Kishan is devastated and carries on a man hunt for KapilKumar. He finally recognizes Kapil in a train and in the ensuing scuffle, Kapil pushes Kishan off the running train. When Kishan regains consciousness, he is amazed to see Madhu (Hema Malini). On following her, he realizes that he is the twin sister of Madhu, Chanchal. He then starts practising medicine in their small village as this was what Madhu wanted to do. With time, Both are drawn towards each other until one day Kapil is in front of them once again. What Kishan does not know is that Kapil is his elder brother who was separated when they were young.

Rajeshwar is the only son of Dharamraj, who is an industrialist, and partners with Naglingam Reddy, Nagendra, and Dhanraj. Rajeshwar then meets a girl from a poor family Bharati, who happens to be his school teachers daughter and falls in love with her. Bharati's father is Vishnupratap a schoolteacher, who is really uhappy for he is unable to earn enough money to feed his family and provide them with basic amenities. He and other teachers work in the school managed by Dharamraj. The fund management headed by Dhanraj have been for years without giving any hike in fees to teachers making them work. When Rajeshwar comes to know of these he starts confronting each lie of the partners.Bharati has a neighbour, Tilak, who is unemployed, and lives with his mother, Sharda, who works as a maidservant in Dhanraj's house. Later he gets job of a manager in Dharamraj industries and starts almost obstructing all the criminal activities carried out by the three partners. Rajeshwar gets impressed with the sincerity of Tila. Meanwhile Tilak falls in love with the Dhanraj'daughter, Rani. Dharamraj accidentally meets Sharda and he realises that Tilak is his long lost nephew. Dharamraj tells Rajeshwar the history of his family and how Tilak is related to him. Then Dharamraj is killed, and the evidence points towards Tilak and he has to gather evidence to prove his innocence.
