He is of Italian descent, his grandparents were immigrants from the southern Italian regions, they emigrated due to better work opportunities to the United States. De Sando is often being displayed as a jocker and dappered villain in mob films such as New Jack City.
He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He has appeared in such television series as L.A. Law, Crossing Jordan, NYPD Blue, Without a Trace and Sex and the City. One of his most prominent roles is Brendan Filone in The Sopranos. He also starred in Federal Hill along with A Day In Black And White and co-starred in the movies xent, Beer League and The Whole Shebang.
