Aubrey Richards (6 June 1920 - 29 May 2000) was a Welsh born actor who appeared in many film and television productions over a 40-year period, often portraying professors.

He started acting in repertory theatre. His films included The Ipcress File (1965), It! (1967), The Man Who Haunted Himself (1970), Under Milk Wood (1972), Endless Night (1972) and Savage Messiah (1972) as the mayor. On television he had a major role as Samuel Evans in Carrie's War (1974) and recurring roles in Emergency-Ward 10, the Doctor Who adventure The Tomb of the Cybermen (1967) as Professor Parry and How Green Was My Valley (1975–76) as Mr. Elias.

He was married to the distinguished stage manager Diana Boddington and they had two children, Claudia and David.

Whilst driving his Rover P5B, uptight City worker Harold Pelham appears to become possessed and has a serious high-speed accident. On the operating table, he briefly suffers clinical death, after which there appear to be two heartbeats on the monitor. When he awakes, Pelham finds his life has been turned upside-down; in his job as a director of a marine technology company he learns that he now supports a merger that he once opposed, and that he apparently is having an affair. Friends, colleagues and acquaintances claim to have seen him in places where he has never been, and Pelham starts being followed by a mysterious silver car (a Lamborghini Islero). A London museum's warehouse burns down leaving undamaged a statue, that the museum curator, Mr. Grove, identifies as "Mid-European Primitive." He is accompanied by his assistant, Arthur Pimm. While Pimm goes to get a flashlight for Grove for his further investigation of the statue, Grove is killed and found at the foot of the statue. This begins a series of unexplained deaths connected with the statue, which is later positively identified as the Golem of Judah Loew of the 16th century.
