Mark Matkevich (born June 19, 1978) is an American actor/art gallerist best known for appearing as Drue Valentine in 17 episodes of the television program Dawson's Creek. He also appeared in the hit romantic comedy, 'Sweet Home Alabama', and played Patrick Dempsey's best friend 'Tom Darovsic'. Matkevich has also had recurring roles on Ed and Joan of Arcadia. He played Dan - a medical student in an episode of Tru Calling (episode entitled "Haunted") and had a guest star role in Season 5 (series five) of NCIS. He has appeared in the Showtime show 'Dexter' with Michael C. Hall. He also was a guest star on Drake & Josh in an episode entitled "Guitar," where he plays a rock guitarist for whom Drake substitutes in a concert after Josh accidentally breaks the hand of Mark Matkevich's character.

In 2011, Mark started Axiom Contemporary art gallery in Santa Monica, CA. with business partner Jason Kirk, and turned focus from the acting business to contemporary art. Axiom specializes in pop, abstract, neo-street, and contemporary art works from international artists in all mediums. Axiom has attended and shown at art fairs in New York, San Francisco, Miami, Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Aspen, as well as operates out of a beautiful 3000 sq. ft. gallery on Main St. in sunny Santa Monica.

Matkevich attended and graduated from Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield, Pennsylvania. He also attended Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

The film opens on a stormy Alabama beach with two children, Melanie Smooter and Jake Perry, chasing each other. Jake has brought Melanie out to show her the glass sculptures that result when sand is struck by lightning. They discuss their future together, with Jake asserting they will be married one day. They kiss and are almost struck by lightning.
