The story is about Thilakan and his two sons, one of them blind, Unni (Sreenivasan), and the other one deaf, Balan (Mukesh). Balakrishnan (Mukesh) is a heart patient. He urgently needs a heart transplant and luckily he gets the heart of Aby Mathew (Jayaram) who was dead a few moments ago. After the operation, Balakrishnan discovers that he can see Aby Mathew while nobody else can. Aby Mathew is now a ghost and he wants to bring his killers in front of the law. He takes Balakrishnan's help and start investigating. At first, nobody is ready to believe Balakrishnan as no one believes in ghosts. Balakrishnan also takes the help of Sub Inspector Damu (Sreenivasan) who also at first does not believe him. Balakrishnan discovers that Aby Mathew was murdered by his adopted brother and confidant Alex Chandanavelil (Saikumar) to take over his business and that the lives of Aby's wife (Maathu)and mother (Kaviyoor Ponnamma) are also in danger. The rest of the plot is Balakrishnan's attempt to save them.

Rock N' Roll tells the story of Chandramouli (Mohanlal), a composer and drummer, of his return to Chennai from South Africa for a brief visit, and of the incidents happening in that short span. Gunasekharan (Siddique), a leading music composer, is busy with his composition for the latest film directed by Lal Jose. He feels, it would be better, if he gets the help of his old friend Chandramouli, who is now busy with his international concerts. But Mouli, a fun loving and jovial musician, makes a surprise landing in Chennai and helps Guna in his work. Mouli accidentally falls in love with Daya Sreenivasan (Lakshmi Rai), the female playback singer, who is also an ardent fan of Mouli. But because of the compulsions from her parents and fiancé, Vivek (Anoop Menon), she moves back to Mumbai. Mouli plots a plan with his friend Thabala Balu (Harisree Ashokan) to bring her back to Chennai. He makes Daya believe that he is now composing a dozen songs for a film and wants Daya to sing it. Daya, who comes back to Chennai, is not impressed by Mouli's tunes. When she openly expresses her unhappiness over the tune, Mouli takes it as a prestige issue and composes a song entirely dedicated to her. However, Daya is unable to attend the studio on that particular date as she is getting married to Vivek, whom she feels is too arrogant and sophisticated for her. Mouli enters the marriage venue and takes Daya to the studio for 30 minutes despite the opposition from her family members. Daya, who within time is fully in love with Mouli, realizes his love for her and opens her mind to him. The film ends with Mouli relaxing at a beach with Daya, but his old habits of carefree nature and passion for girls still not gone.

The film opens with a flashback showing the family feud between families of Sathyaprathapan (Mammootty) and Bhavani (Indraja). Sathyaprathapan's sister and Bhavani's cousin are in love. The murder of Bhavani's cousin Vishnu, is wrongly accused on Balagangadharan (Lalu Alex), father of Sathyaprathapan. Sathyaprathapan's sisters commits suicide and Sathyaprathapan turns against his father. He starts to help Bhavani's family and mortgages his own house to finance her factory. A love develops between Sathyaprathapan and Bhavani. But Bhavani's greedy father wants to destroy Sathyaprathapan's family and tries to take their home. That is when Parameshwara Maman shows up, Sathyaprathapan's mom requests Maman to prove Balagangadharan's innocence. Parameshwara Mama and Sathyaprathapan finds Kuruvilla who witnessed the murder being committed by Bhavani's father goons. Meanwhile we see that Sathyaprathapan's mom faints and dies in the hospital. While in the hospital, his mom tells how Balagangadharan had a different wife and he should ask them forgiveness. He storms into Bhavani's house and accuses her dad, also trying to make her understand the truth but she doesn't believe him and stands by her father. Then Sathyaprathapan says he doesn't love her any more and vows that he will never trust a woman by remaining a chronic bachelor forever.
