Princesse Chang Ping (Dinü hua) est un film hongkongais réalisé par John Woo, sorti en 1975.

Synopsis

Le jour des fiancailles de la princese Chang Ping, le royaume de son pere est assiege par des rebelles. Pris au piege, le vieux seigneur ordonne a ses deux epouses de se donner la mort, tue ses enfants et se suicide par pendaison. Blessee, mais miraculeusement vivante, la princesse est coduite dans un couvent ou son fiance parvient a la retrouver.

In the prologue, Hoffmann is in the audience at a performance by Stella, a prima ballerina. Stella sends Hoffmann a note asking him to meet her after the performance, but the note is intercepted by his rival, Councillor Lindorf. Not having received her note, Hoffmann goes to the tavern in the interval, where he tells the story of a clown, Kleinzach and three stories of his past loves — Olympia, Giulietta and Antonia, and gets drunk.

The film begins when Nomakhaya arrives at a Cape Town police station, looking for police sergeant Jongikhaya. He is out on patrol, so she decides to return later to avoid being harassed by the other officers. Meanwhile, Carmen and Amanda are going to work at the cigarette factory. They pass in front of Jongikhaya's police vehicle and Carmen yells at him for parking there. Nomakhaya eventually finds Jongikhaya and gives him a ring that his dying mother sent him: she urges him to return to his village to see his mother before she dies. A flashback reveals that Jongikhaya has been disowned by his mother after he drowned his brother during an argument. Later, the bored police officers decide to go to the cigarette factory to see the girls. Carmen is piqued when Jongikhaya reads his Bible and ignores her. She flirts with him and throws a rose into his car.
