The revolutionary songs they created anchored Estonia’s non-violent struggle for freedom.

Guy Hamilton, a neophyte foreign correspondent for an Australian network, arrives in Jakarta on assignment. He meets the close-knit members of the foreign correspondent community including journalists from the UK, the US and New Zealand, diplomatic personnel, and a Chinese-Australian dwarf of high intelligence and moral seriousness, Billy Kwan. Hamilton is initially unsuccessful because his predecessor, tired of life in Indonesia, had departed without introducing Hamilton to his contacts. He receives limited sympathy from the journalist community, which competes for scraps of information from Sukarno's government, the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI), and the conservative Muslim military. However, Kwan takes a liking to Hamilton and arranges interviews for him with key political figures.

The film centers around the Sex Pistols 1978 tour of the United States which ended with the group breaking up. The tour was the only one the group played in the U.S. Film director Lech Kowalski followed them with handheld cameras through the clubs and bars of their seven-city Southern tour. After Don Cobain marries Wendy O'Conner, she gets pregnant and gives birth to their son Kurt Cobain. He is a hyperactive kid and at the age of three, his sister Kim is born. At the age of nine his parents divorce and he goes to stay with his dad. Don tells Kurt that he wouldn't get married again, but breaks his promise when he meets Jenny Westeby who already has two kids. They get married and have another kid Chad. Kurt tortures his siblings and Jenny has Don kick him out. Kurt goes to stay with his mom and his sister. He starts hanging out with a few kids he hates but hangs out with them so he can smoke marijuana. They go over to a girls house where they distract her and one of them grabs alcohol from the basement. They get away with this for only a month, and during that month Kurt gets suicidal. He decides that before he kills himself he wants to have sex first. He goes over to the girls house and when they are about to have sex, he leaves after being grossed out by how her vagina smelled. After a conversation with Buzz Osborne, he starts listening to punk rock. Two weeks before school gets out, he drops out due to lack of credits. He decides to make a band and meets Krist Novoselic. They form their band with Chad Channing on drums. After going through many names, they call the band Nirvana.
