The Ural Front (Russian:Bolshaya zemlya) is a 1944 Soviet war film directed by Sergey Gerasimov and starring Tamara Makarova, Viktor Dobrovolsky and Sofya Khalyutina.

The film's sets were designed by the art director Ivan Stepanov. It was distributed in the United States in 1945 by Artkino Pictures.

Soviet intelligence officer Aleksey Fedotov by the name of Heinrich Eckert departs for German occupied Vinnytsia. His purpose is to obtain the secret correspondence of General Kuhn with the Hitler's headquarters. In late 17th-century Russia, Czar Peter the Great orders an attack on Turkey, which refuses to pay taxes to the Russian government. Russian victory over Turkey will not only force the Turks to pay taxes, but also make the Sea of Azov accessible to the Russians.

The film consists of two parts. In the first part entitled "Encounters" a successful journalist from Moscow Yuri Aliabiev (Y.Vasiliev) travels to a small city in the Urals because a certain Anikina, woman living in the city, writes complaints about local authorities accusing them of dissipation and bribe-taking. Arriving in the city Aliabiev meets Shura Okaemova, a nice-looking girl who works at a local plant. Attracted by Shura's intelligence and beauty Aliabiev attempts to seduce her but Shura rejects his attempts. Aliabiev leaves for Moscow and then on a business trip for Paris.
