George Wickham est un personnage de fiction créé par la femme de lettres anglaise Jane Austen qui apparaît dans son roman Orgueil et Préjugés (Pride and Prejudice), paru en 1813. Personnage secondaire, à peine esquissé par la narratrice, il joue cependant un rôle essentiel dans le déroulement de l'intrigue.

Wickham est au premier abord plein de chaleur, de vivacité et de charme : il sait toucher le cœur des jeunes filles romanesques. Sa prestance et ses manières chaleureuses lui attirent rapidement la sympathie de l'héroïne, Elizabeth Bennet. Mais sa nature profonde est celle d'un libertin cynique et sans principes : il est menteur, enjôleur, joueur, manipulateur. Il n'hésite pas à utiliser, pour tromper son entourage, sa bonne mine et les atouts que lui donne la bonne éducation acquise grâce à son parrain, le maître de Pemberley, un grand domaine dont son père était régisseur, et dans lequel il a été élevé aux côtés des enfants du propriétaire, Fitzwilliam et Georgiana Darcy.

L'intrigue développée autour du personnage de George Wickham a été inspirée à Jane Austen par Tom Jones, le roman d'Henry Fielding paru en 1749.
