She has provided voices for several characters in a number of animated television shows and movies, such as Liz Allan on The Spectacular Spider-Man, the title character on El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, Lola Boa on Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, Strudel on Pound Puppies (2010), and four characters in the Oscar-winning animated film Rango. She played the first female assistant, Josie, on Beakman's World. She has also written and performed a one-woman show.

Biography

Ubach was born in Downey, California, the daughter of Sidna and Rodolfo Ubach. Her sister Athena Ubach is a therapist. Her father is of Puerto Rican descent, and her mother is Mexican American.

Since the age of two, she showed a conscious artistic inclination, and by age seven, she had already made her TV acting debut on Romper Room and was studying acting and dance. At 14, she was traveling with an actor’s company composed entirely of adults, yet she managed to gain critical acclaim from the New York Times for her role as a Jewish girl from Brooklyn in Club Soda. During this stage, she also landed a regular spot as Josie the assistant in the TV series, Beakman’s World. Her early film roles include Airborne (1993), Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993), Renaissance Man (1994), and The Brady Bunch Movie (1995).

At 17, she starred in the play Kindertransport at the Manhattan Theatre Club. As she matured, her new interest led her into a series of indie films, like Denise Calls Up (1995), in which she played the title character, the Sundance-acclaimed film Johns (1996), playing David Arquette’s girlfriend, and in Freeway (1996), playing a gay Latina. During this time, she also played roles in more mainstream films like Clockwatchers (1997), alongside Toni Colette and Parker Posey. Her Hollywood credentials also include her role as Elle Woods’s best friend in the two Legally Blonde films.

In 2004, Ubach starred in the movie Waiting..., alongside Ryan Reynolds and Anna Faris, and after a long casting process, landed the role of a Latina maid/caterer in the star-filled sequel to Meet the Parents, Meet The Fockers (2004).

She has also remained active in TV, with many roles which include recent appearances in hit shows like Hung (2009), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2011), and Californication (2013).

The film focuses on several characters. One of the main protagonists, Dean (Justin Long), has been a waiter for four years since graduating from high school, and has not earned a degree during his four years at a community college. When Dean learns from his mother that a former high school classmate, Chett (Travis Resor), now has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, he begins to rethink his direction-less life. Dean's lecherous friend and co-worker, Monty (Ryan Reynolds), is in exactly the same situation, but has accepted that his future lies with the restaurant, Shenaniganz. Monty is put in charge of training Mitch (John Francis Daley), a newly hired waiter who is constantly interrupted throughout most of the film before he can speak, usually by Monty. Also working with Dean is Calvin (Robert Patrick Benedict), a hopeless romantic who cannot urinate in public, and Dan (David Koechner), the uptight manager who is grooming Dean as his protégé. Rounding out the staff are 17-year-old hostess Natasha (Vanessa Lengies), abrasive waitress Naomi (Alanna Ubach), waitress (and Monty's ex-girlfriend) Serena (Anna Faris), Dean's girlfriend and fellow waitress Amy (Kaitlin Doubleday), stoner busboys T-Dog and Nick (Max Kasch and Andy Milonakis), head chef Raddamus (Luis Guzman), the insane, unsanitary chef Floyd (Dane Cook), lesbian bartender Tyla (Emmanuelle Chriqui), and the pensive and philosophical dishwasher Bishop (Chi McBride).

Each time John puts any money together, either by turning a trick, robbing the house of one of his regular "dates" or stealing from potential clients, it's taken from him either by robbery or in payback for a drug deal where he burned the dealer.
