Wilbert "Bill" Cobbs (born June 16, 1934) is an American actor.
Il commence le théâtre en amateur, notamment dans la pièce Purlie d'Ossie Davis qui prend place au Sud des États-Unis durant la période des Lois Jim Crow. Par la suite, Bill Cobbs enchaîne plusieurs métiers (technicien pour United States Air Force, vendeur de voitures...). Ce n'est qu'en 1970 qu'il quitte l'Ohio pour New York. Pour vivre, il pratique de nouveau différents métiers. Il joue alors dans de petites productions théâtrales, de la scène de rue, théâtre régional. Il apparaît pour la première fois au cinéma dans Les Pirates du métro (1974) dans un petit rôle.
Il est connu pour ses nombreuses apparitions dans des films et séries télévisées populaires (Les Soprano, Six Feet Under, Les Médiums, JAG, Le Drew Carey Show, October Road, American Wives, Les Frères Scott). Au cinéma il incarne Reginald, un ex-gardien du Muséum américain d'histoire naturelle dans La Nuit au musée (2006). De 2012 à 2013 il joue dans la série télévisée Go On.

Né dans une famille modeste, son père travaillait dans la construction et sa mère était domestique.Il commence le théâtre en amateur, notamment dans la pièce Purlie d'Ossie Davis qui prend place au Sud des États-Unis durant la période des Lois Jim Crow. As the film begins. A former criminal and drug dealer Lucky (Wesley Snipes) was released from prison and tries to lead a respectable life despite his troubled past. Following the death of his wife, Arthur Pratt (Philip Baker Hall) is on the verge of taking his own life. However, just after he had finished burying his wife’s ashes at the park, a duckling crosses his path. Noticing that the duckling is all alone, Arthur decides to help it find its flock. Unfortunately, they end up finding the flock as roadkill. As a result, Arthur then chooses to take the surviving duckling back to his apartment, where he bathes and feeds it. After orchestrating a robbery, bank Vice President Jeremy Stanton (Dean Cain) gets lost driving in the desert, en route to meeting his family with a deadline of eight hours. He listens to tapes by a lifestyle guru (the film is divided into sections titled according to chapters from the guru's best-selling book) and seeks help from a telephone route-finding service, which gives him guidance that does not agree with his map. At first it seems as if he has succeeded in the perfect crime, but things quickly deteriorate – he is pursued by one of his fellow robbers (Danny Trejo), a ruthless killer whom he double crossed; his wife begins to doubt the choices they've made; he attempts to turn himself in to a state trooper, who is found dead by his pursuer's hand – and self-doubt plagues him. The film is almost a solo performance, with few other characters except Stanton and Judy (Ashley Scott), the woman from the telephone route-finder service, and tension builds in a Kafka-esque style as it becomes clear that things are not what they seem. Ultimately, it is revealed that Judy has been paid by his pursuers to lead him into a trap. He is surrounded and one of his pursuers taps on the window as the movie ends.

The film begins in a Los Angeles diner where a waitress named Slim (Jennifer Lopez) works with her best friend, Ginny (Juliette Lewis). She receives romantic advances from a customer who teases her about her name. Another man in the diner, Mitch Hiller (Billy Campbell) reveals that the customer had made a bet that he would be able to convince Slim to sleep with him. Soon after, Slim falls in love with and marries Mitch, and they have a child named Gracie (Tessa Allen). Years later, Slim finds out Mitch has been cheating on her with a woman named Darcelle. She confronts him and he admits it, but also insisting Darcelle means nothing to him. Slim becomes angry and threatens to leave, which enrages Mitch who becomes violent, slapping and punching her in the face. He gives her a warning, saying that he makes the money and gets to do whatever he likes, implying he wants an open marriage. Mitch refuses to stop his affair unless she wants to fight him. The next day, Slim confides in Mitch's mother (Janet Carroll), she asks her what she did to make Mitch angry, implying he has a history of physical abuse. Ginny advises Slim to leave Mitch, but Slim doesn't want to hurt Gracie. She then goes to pick up Gracie from school, only to discover Mitch had already picked her up. Panicked that Mitch might have left town with her, she calls Mitch, who tells her that he took Gracie to the zoo.
