C. Henry Gordon (June 17, 1883 – December 3, 1940) was an American stage and film actor. Like many of his generation he enjoyed a long stage career, on and off Broadway, before entering films. Hence that well trained voice of his. He appeared in 79 films between 1930 and 1940. He was a Hollywood villain of the 1930s.

He was born Henry Racke in New York, New York and died in Los Angeles, California after having his leg amputated. He was educated both in New York and abroad in Switzerland and Germany. For some years he owned and ran a silver mine in New Mexico but failed to make it pay so he became an actor.

Sous le pseudonyme de C. Henry Gordon, il débute sa carrière au théâtre et joue à Broadway (New York) dans neuf pièces, entre 1922 et 1928, la dernière étant The Shanghai Gesture (qui sera adaptée au cinéma en 1941 ; film réalisé par Josef von Sternberg).

Deux ans après, en 1930, il apparaît au cinéma et contribue en tout à soixante-dix-neuf films américains, jusqu'en 1940, année où il meurt prématurèment. Un de ses films les mieux connus est Mata Hari en 1931, aux côtés de Greta Garbo qu'il retrouvera en 1937, avec Marie Walewska. Bien connu également est son rôle de Surat Khan en 1936, dans La Charge de la brigade légère, où il affronte Errol Flynn.

The story takes place in the Russian Empire during the last years of the reign of Czar Nicholas II and the Czarina Alexandra.
