Hiroyuki Morita (森田 宏幸, Morita Hiroyuki, born June 26, 1964 in Fukuoka, Japan) is a Japanese animator and director. He has worked as an animator on projects such as Akira and Lupin III. He is best known for working as director on the Studio Ghibli film The Cat Returns as well as doing key animation for the Studio Ghibli production My Neighbors the Yamadas and in-between animation for Kiki's Delivery Service. He was also a sequence director and storyboard artist on Tenchi Forever!.
Morita also was the director of the anime Bokurano, which was based on a manga by Mohiro Kitoh.

Yû, un adolescent handicapé qui se déplace en chaise roulante, est secrètement amoureux de son amie d'enfance Kotona. Mais celle-ci sort avec Haru, le meilleur ami de Yû. Un jour, Kotona commence à être traquée par un mystérieux assassin qui semble venue d'un autre monde. Elle finit par être grièvement blessée avec une dague ensorcelée. En tentant de la protéger, Yû et Haru se retrouvent propulsés dans Ni no kuni, "le deuxième monde", au Royaume d'Estavani. Ils se rendent compte que, dans cet autre monde, Kotona est la princesse héritière. Or quand une personne meurt dans l'un des deux mondes, elle meurt aussi dans l'autre. Les trois adolescents vont alors tenter de survivre et de sauver le royaume.

The story begins with the end of winter, and the southern ocean showing the aurora australis. A flock of penguins, coming from the north, returns home. The females separate from their mates to go hunt as males build their nests from piles of pebbles. The females return to lay their eggs, only to eventually separate from the males again, whilst the males take care of the eggs. It would take forty days before the females returned. A flock of aggressive seagulls constantly threatens to steal the penguin eggs and raids the nesting grounds while the females are away. Unfortunately, the hunger and all the good food that was waiting made some of the male penguins abandon their nest. A father (black and white penguin) of a couple saves the egg of another family, meanwhile one of their two eggs is stolen from their nest. When the mother (a dark blue and white penguin) returns, the father says that one of the eggs does not belong to them. They return another penguin's egg and have one egg for themselves.

A bamboo cutter named Sanuki no Miyatsuko discovers a miniature girl inside a glowing bamboo shoot. Believing her to be a divine presence, Miyatsuko and his wife decide to raise her as their own, calling her "Princess". The girl grows rapidly and conspicuously, marveling her parents and earning her the nickname "Takenoko" (Little Bamboo) from the other children in the village. Sutemaru, the oldest among Kaguya's friends, develops a particularly close relationship with her.

Nobita and his dad buy a big rhinoceros beetle, which he promises to his dad to take good care of it. Following the death of her father Kazuo, Momo Miyaura and her mother Ikuko travel from Tokyo to the Seto Inland Sea. Momo carries Kazuo's unfinished letter, which contains only the words "Dear Momo." The two arrive at her mother's estate in Shio Island (汐島, Shiojima) and meet their relatives Sachio and Sae Sadahama as well as Koichi, a postman and Ikuko's friend. Momo is devastated and misses Tokyo. In the attic, she opens a present containing a rare picture book about goblins and Yōkai, collected by Sachio's father. Three droplets from the sky enter Ikuko's estate and transform into yokai consisting of Kawa, Mame, and Iwa, the group's leader.

The movie's plot involves Nobita, who throws a temper tantrum because he wants a really large RC toy robot in order to upstage the rich kid, Suneo, who has been showing off the new robot that his cousin made. His fit makes Doraemon angry and he uses his Anywhere Door to get anyway from the summer heat cool off at the North Pole. Sometime later, Nobita follows and a discovers a strange bowling ball-like orb which starts blinking with a pulsating light, and summons what looks like a giant robot´s foot. After Nobita uses the foot to sled down, crashing into his room through the Anywhere Door, the bowling ball follows him home through the door and another robot piece falls into his backyard. A frozen Doraemon follows soon after, covered in ice before being thawed out and with a cold. Learning of the robot parts, Doraemon admits to Nobita that he has nothing to do with it as the two use the Opposite World Entrance Oil and the Roll-Up Fishing Hole to enter the World Inside the Mirror, an alternate mirror world without people. There, they built the robot which Nobita christens the name "Zanda Claus" as he believed the sphere summoning the parts is from Santa Claus.

The movie begins with a young girl, Julia Crichton, waking up from a dream about the day her family was forcibly taken from her home by soldiers beside her older brother Ashley, who is currently studying their parents' alchemy books. Ashley then shows his sister some pages and explains that with the alchemy in the book, he hopes to make a world that no one's seen before. Soon after discovering two strange rubbed-out pages, the siblings hear some strange noises and Ashley goes ahead to investigate, but a worried Julia follows to a room where she finds the bodies of her parents hung up and dripping blood. She watches in horror as her brother is attacked and presumably murdered to which she faints.
