He was the only son of singers and actors Antonio González 'El Pescaílla' and Lola Flores. He was the brother of actresses Lolita Flores and Rosario Flores. He was divorced from Ana Villa with whom he had a daughter, Alba.

1936. Rafael, fils d'un noble espagnol, quitte l'établissement catholique français où il était pensionnaire, rappelé dans son pays par son père. Officier supérieur de l'armée franquiste, celui-ci tient à ce que son fils participe à la guerre civile qui déchire l'Espagne. Avant de rejoindre le front, Rafael est affecté à une unité dont la mission principale est de s'occuper des prisonniers et d'exécuter les éléments subversifs. Cette garnison est commandée par le Colonel Masagual, un ami du père de Rafael. Très ancien régime, ce colonel qui vit ouvertement son homosexualité avec Casado, son aide de camp, est un personnage ambigu, mélancolique, et d'une lucidité cynique. Pour preuve, cette prédiction cinglante : « Cette guerre que nous allons fatalement gagner débouchera sur un monde sordide... Dès que la paix éclatera, les Sancho Pança d'Espagne égorgeront Don Quichotte et deviendront tout puissants.

Blood and Sand revolves around the young and talented natural gifted Toreros Juan Gallardo played by Christopher Rydel. Gallardo wants to be popular in bullfighting. His love Carmen (Ana Torrent), has a cousin who has left home with Gallardo for bullfighting competition. They successfully earn some level and skills in the arena, but something went wrong and the bull charged at Gallardo, but his friend saved Gallardo and it cost him his own life. Gallardo then left and met Lady Dona Sol (Sharon Stone) a beautiful rich lady, where he was offered to join her company as a worker of her fields and lands, but Gallardo insisted to become a superstar in bullfighting in his country. As Gallardo is leaving her home, a security guard tells him to join the a bullfighting trainer Nacional (Albert Vidal). Nacional trains Gallardo until he is able to join the national bullfighting competition. Another friend of Gallardo, Garabato (Guillermo Montesinos) also joins him. He displays brilliant skills in his first appearance of national league and his popularity rises.
