Une fille du village, lors d'une visite à Boston, est attirée par un homme là-bas, puis retourne chez elle avec un sentiment de culpabilité et de honte. Un jeune homme qui avait déjà demandé sa main revient après plusieurs années passées en Europe et réitère sa requête. Elle répond à son amour et accepte de l'épouser, mais a du mal à lui dire la vérité sur sa mauvaise aventure. Quand elle y parvient enfin, la réaction du jeune homme semble destiner le couple à la tragédie.

Grace Camp (Jeanne Eagels) and her brother Charles (Sheldon Lewis), ask Ashton Kirk to investigate strange events involving Mexicans that are occurring at their house. Kirk learns from information provided by an agent in Mexico that their father had been an engraver who made forged currency plates when in need of money. The sibling's father had forged currency plates for a thief ((Charles Krauss) but had never delivered them. The thief's aunt, Miss Hohenlo (Ina Hammer) and her accomplices have been breaking into the father's house to try and find the engraving plates. Kirk captures the intruders and destroys the forged plates.

Based upon a summary of the plot in a review in a film publication, Angie (Dunn) and Abe (Harmon) have been married for many years when bad investments force them to sell their homestead. Angie is to go to the old ladies' home while Abe is to go to live on the poor farm. When the twenty-nine inmates of the old ladies' home see how hard it is for the couple to part, they agree to take Abe in, and he is listed on their roster as "Old Lady 31." There are several comic situations as Abe wins his way into the hearts of his female companions. When some apparently worthless mining stock is found to have some value, the couple are able to return to their home.
