Back to School with Franklin is the third Franklin movie, released direct-to-video and on DVD. The film was directed by Arna Selznick.
Cole Caplan takes over for Noah Reid as the voice of Franklin the Turtle, ushering in the sixth season of the program, which would not make its way to the United States until 2006. He is joined by Bryn McAuley, who has voiced his sister Harriet since the first film and Carolyn Scott as the voice of a replacement teacher.
The main plot focuses around Franklin and his friends starting a new year of school, only to find that their teacher Mr. Owl (James Rankin) is absent. Their replacement teacher, Miss Koala, pulls up on a motorbike and at first Franklin finds her weird. She uses phrases such as "fair dinkum" and wants to create a brand-new soccer team. Soon, however, he and everyone else in the class are won over by her "can-do" attitude.
Meanwhile, Franklin's sister Harriet is upset because her best friend Beatrice has gone to preschool, meaning that she can't play with her for most of the day on weekdays. Her spirits are raised when she meets a new friend, Kit (Amanda Soha), but Kit is a bit shy and may not be ready for Harriet's rough-and-tumble play.
Synopsis
C’est la fin des vacances d’été et la rentrée des classes pour Franklin. Sa petite sœur est triste car elle va devoir jouer toute seule, mais Franklin est très content de retrouver ses copains et son maître, M. Hibou. Mais le jour de la rentrée, ce n’est pas M. Hibou qui viendra faire cours car il est remplacé, temporairement, par Mlle Koala. Avec ce nouveau professeur, les habitudes et les méthodes de travail changent et les élèves devront s’y habituer. Après des premiers contacts difficiles, Franklin et ses amis vont apprendre à mieux connaître leur nouvelle maîtresse et son pays d’origine, l’Australie. Les tensions finiront de s’apaiser lorsqu’ils se trouveront une passion commune : le football.Actors

The movie begins with Jerry and his little nephew Tuffy watching the Christmas ballet in New York City, while a group of cats, including Tom, in an alley overlooking the Empire State Building, sing a song for the Cat King. Later, Jerry goes to the empty stage floor, where magic begins to happen. Toys come alive including Nelly the pony and Paulie the Christmas Ornament. Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and Scrappy-Doo are on their way to a Miss Grimwood's Finishing School for Girls, where they have been hired as gym teachers. Once there, however, they find that it is actually a school for girl ghouls. The pupils include Sibella, the daughter of Count Dracula; Elsa Frankenteen, the daughter of Frankenstein's monster, Winnie, the daughter of The Wolfman; Phantasma (usually called Phanty for short), the daughter of a phantom, possibly The Phantom of the Opera; and Tanis, the daughter of The Mummy - all parodies/tributes to the Universal Monsters of the 1930s-40s. Other residents of the school are a floating white hand; an octopus, who is the school's butler; Legs, a spider that helps with the upcoming volleyball match; Miss Grimwood, the headmistress; and her pet dragon Matches (who dislikes Scooby at first, but later becomes friends, and has a strong friendship with Scrappy). The film begins with Franklin finishing up his time travel machine. He explains to his dog Blu that it works with the synthesis of the four elements. Just outside, Jimmy Five and Smudge concoct an "infallible plan" to steal Monica's blue toy rabbit, Samson. The plan eventually fails when Monica, while on a picnic with Maggy, discovers it. Jimmy Five and Smudge hide in Franklin's office. Monica and Maggy follow them there, where Monica accidentally throws her rabbit on Franklin's machine, causing the elements to travel to different periods in time. Franklin sends each child into a different time after the elements in order to bring them back. If they fail, time will slow down and eventually stop. Monica and Blu end up in Prehistoric times to recover the element of fire. Jimmy Five is sent to the 30th century to recover the element of air. Maggy is sent to a few years back (when the kids were babies) to recover the element of earth. Smudge is sent to an indigenous tribe in Colonial-era Brazil to recover water.
