Synopsis
Frank Madden se rend dans la petite ville de Kendall, dans l'Oklahoma, où il a acheté un ranch. Lorsqu'il entre dans la ville, les rues sont désertes. En fait, les habitants se sont réunis au Saloon pour assister au procès des frères Shipley qui ont lynché deux Indiens. Malgré des preuves accablantes, les trois bandits sont acquittés par un jury blanc qui semble peu sensible aux décisions du juge. Mais le shérif craint que ce verdict puisse provoquer des représailles de la part des peaux rouges...Actors

Clay Santell (Audie Murphy) has his horse stolen and stops in the town of Sutterville. He is mistaken by townspeople for a murderer named Travers (Jan Merlin), so hand him over to sheriff Harry Deckett (Stephen McNally). While singing on a radio program sponsored by Alta Vista Oil Company, Gene Autry (Gene Autry) meets a beautiful woman, Anita Loredo (Luana Walters), when her sweater gets caught on his outfit. Forced to stand with him at the microphone while he sings, Anita smiles sweetly at the singing cowboy whose romantic words are directed at her. After the show, Gene learns that Anita helps run an orphanage in Mexico with her uncle, Padre Dominic (William Farnum). She is upset that the orphanage has yet to see any return on their investment in the oil company—money badly needed to help the children. After confronting the head of the oil company, Carruthers (William Royle), Gene realizes that his employers are crooked oil promoters trying to peddle the land on which the poor Mexican orphanage is located.

Following a disastrous flood of the Green River, the ranchers of the valley are forced to abandon their land and migrate to neighboring Rand County. They are met with hostility by the citizens of Randville, who feel threatened by the influx of the dispossessed.
