Synopsis
After her marriage turns loveless and dull, Josephine "Jo" Morris (Hayworth) finds comfort and company with Larry Ellis (Young), a widower. The two soon begin an affair. After Larry accidentally kills Jo's husband during a struggle over a gun, the two are tried for his murder.Actors

Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) seems to have picked up the pieces of his life and moved on, and is now dating L.A. radio reporter Geri Nichols (played by Bronson's real-life wife Jill Ireland). The son of a wealthy Greek immigrant, Nick Stratton (Anthony Franciosa) is attempting to find his own way in the world after returning home to San Francisco following a stint in the Army. Jim Carter, a former stoker, takes over a fairground show, run by 'Pop' McWade, which depicts scenes from Dante's Inferno. He marries Pop's niece Betty and they have a son, Alexander. Meanwhile the show becomes a great success, with Carter making it larger and more lurid. An inspector declares the fair unsafe but Carter bribes him into silence. There is a partial collapse at the fair which injures Pop. Recovering in hospital, he admonishes Carter and we see a lengthy vision of the Inferno. Undeterred, Carter establishes a new venture with an unsafe floating casino, only for disaster to strike again at sea.
