Ursus (also known as Mighty Ursus) is a 1961 Italian peplum film directed by Carlo Campogalliani. The film was later adapted for the American television film package, The Sons of Hercules, where it was retitled "Ursus, Son of Hercules". Filmed in Madrid in 1960 and released in several countries from 1961-1963, this movie stars bodybuilder Ed Fury as the legendary Ursus in a sword-and-sandal adventure.
Synopsis
Le colosse Ursus, de retour chez lui après avoir livré bataille, découvre que sa fiancée Attea a été déportée sur une île lointaine par des prêtres païens. Il part à sa recherche avec Doreide, une esclave aveugle qui devine qu'Attea a été enlevée par Setas, un ancien ami d'Ursus. Ce dernier se met en travers de leur chemin et capture Ursus qui arrive à briser ses liens et réussit à s'enfuir avec Doreide. Ils rencontrent la belle courtisane Magali qui se propose de les aider à traverser une zone désertique. Magali essaie de séduire Ursus et, ulcérée par son refus, tente de le piéger avec la complicité de Setas, mais elle meurt dans leur affrontement dont Ursus et Doreide sortent victorieux. Le couple arrive enfin dans l'île et découvre qu'Attea, soumise à l'emprise maléfique de Setas, est devenue la malfaisante prêtresse de l'île. Ursus essaie sans succès de la soustraire au pouvoir occulte de Setas et se retrouve dans une arène pour combattre un monstrueux taureau qu'il finit par tuer. Ursus dresse alors une révolte au cours de laquelle Attea et Setas trouvent la mort tandis que Doreide recouvre la vue à la suite d'une violente commotion. Elle s'embarque avec Ursus sur le chemin du retour.Actors

While Hercules (Mickey Hargitay) is away, his village is plundered and his wife is killed by the army of Ecalia as the first part of a scheme by the treacherous Licos (Massimo Serato) to gain the throne of Ecalia for himself. Licos plans that Hercules will come to Ecalia for vengeance and murders the King himself to save Ecalia from his revenge. Hercules learns of the murder of his wife and seeks vengeance, but is thwarted when the King's daughter and heir to the throne Queen Deianira offers herself rather than her realm of Ecalia as the guilty party. In accordance with the law Deianira must face the wrath of Hercules; she is bound to a wall as Hercules throws axes at her that miss Deianira proving her innocence in the eyes of the gods.

Hercules is called upon to fight seven golden giants summoned by the Dagger of Jae, sister of Juno (Hera), who dislikes Hercules "for certain family reasons." Hercules also fights to protect his princess love, but matters are complicated by her evil relative Milo, who has murdered her father the king but has tricked her into thinking it was someone else because she trusts him too much. Milo tricks Hercules into killing his friend, for which he is punished by his father Jove (Jupiter/Zeus) who takes away his enormous strength, because he has misused it. Milo is conspiring with his sorceress mother to take the throne for himself.

The film retells the story of the Trojan War, albeit with some major changes from the Iliad's storyline: Paris of Troy (Jacques Sernas) sails to Sparta to secure a peace treaty between the two powerful city-states. His ship is forced to return to Troy in a storm after he has been swept overboard on the shore of Sparta. Paris is found by Helen, Queen of Sparta (Rossana Podestà), with whom he falls in love. The film begins with Hercules/Goliath/Emilius entering the underworld and defeating several monsters including Cerberus to retrieve the Blood Diamond of the Goddess of Vengeance. It is later revealed that King Eurystheus has sent Hercules/Goliath on this task to ensure his death to gain allies who after Hercules' death will join the King in an attack on Thebes. King Acrisius of Argos (Donald Houston) imprisons his daughter Danaë (Vida Taylor), jealous of her beauty. When the god Zeus (Laurence Olivier) impregnates her, Acrisius sends his daughter and his newborn grandson Perseus to sea in a wooden coffin. In retribution, Zeus kills Acrisius and orders Poseidon (Jack Gwillim) to release the last of the Titans, a gigantic sea monster called the Kraken, to destroy Argos.
