L'auteur du méfait, Julio González et son frère Ramiro, hommes riches et puissants, ne voient pas d'un bon œil le retour d'Aurelio. Mais, ce dernier, bravant les menaces du clan, épouse Paloma et demeure sur ses terres. En état de légitime défense, Aurelio finira par les abattre pour vivre en toute quiétude auprès de Paloma et de Felipe.

Silent Light begins with a long tracking shot of the sun rising over a beautiful plain. The protagonist Johan, his wife Esther, and their children sit silently saying grace, after which each member of Johan's family departs from their home except for him. Once he is alone, he stops the clock on the wall and breaks down crying. Johan goes to work and discusses with a colleague that he is having an affair with a single woman by the name of Marianne; he makes it clear that his wife knows about the affair. Johan leaves work to meet Marianne in a field, and they begin to kiss. In the next scene, Johan's children are bathing and playing along a riverbank while he and his wife watch. They call one of their children over to bathe her, and as they are doing so, Esther begins to cry.

Mais, il finit par égarer celle-ci. Soupçonné, il est enfermé en prison. Pourtant, les villageois obligent Tomás à verser l'argent nécessaire à la guérison de Nicolás. D'un autre côté, Eufemio est libéré par manque de preuves. Ce dernier retrouve la perle et la rétablit sur la statue. Le curé de Tlayucan évoque un miracle du Créateur.

Cabrera, riche propriétaire, cherche à vendre son immeuble qu'il loue. Il doit procéder à des expulsions, mais les locataires, aux conditions de vie précaires, se révoltent. Cabrera fait alors appel à Pedro, dit "La Brute", un employé aux abattoirs, homme rustre et costaud, chargé de les effrayer. Cabrera lui demande de quitter son travail et l'installe chez lui. Paloma, la jeune femme de Cabrera ne tarde pas à tomber sous le charme viril de Pedro. Un soir, Pedro frappe l'un des locataires, qui, déjà malade, meurt peu après. Bientôt repéré, Pedro est pourchassé par les locataires furieux. Il se réfugie chez une jeune fille, Meche. Ni Meche, ni Pedro ne font le rapprochement avec l'homme que Pedro a tué, qui s'avère être le père de la jeune fille.
