Cairo nowadays. Hebba hosts an evening political talk show on Sun TV. Karim, her husband, is the deputy director of a newspaper that backs the Government; he dreams of soon being the director. However, it is made clear to him that his wife’s political opinion’s, that lean towards the opposition, are poorly received and could cost him his promotion. Using his charm and sex as tools, he convinces Hebba to choose social themes that will not affect the Government.
The film begins with the sound of Adhaan. A woman is standing on the rooftop contemplating jumping. She jumps in slow motion. Flashback. Munes does not want a husband. Her tyrannical brother, Amir Khan, wants Munes to prepare for a visiting suitor and demands that she cook dinner for them. When she scoffs at the idea, he gets angry, and threatens that if she leaves the house he will break her legs.
Kié est une petite fille dont le père tient un petit restaurant dans l'arrondissement Nishinari-ku d'Osaka. Bagarreur et joueur, ce dernier néglige sa famille et son travail et sa femme le quitte, tout en continuant à rencontrer sa fille en cachette. Cette dernière, à huit ans seulement, s'occupe du restaurant tout en essayant de travailler en classe.
The film focuses on the lives of three women of different social classes who get publicly harassed. It starts with Fayza (Bushra), a low income government employee who gets harassed in a taxi and a bus (numbered 678) on the way to work. When she arrives home she resists her husband's attempts in sleeping with her and doesn't explain why she can't sleep with him.
Une troupe de théâtre joue en tournée Manon Lescaut, avec en vedette Denise, dont le mari est malade et alcoolique. Lasse de ses accès de violence, et voulant refaire sa vie, elle s'enfuit et trouve refuge chez un médecin qui l'engage comme infirmière dans sa clinique. Cependant une autre infirmière, jalouse, commande une enquête à un détective, et finit par découvrir le passé de Denise.
Les Yeux secs porte sur l'histoire d'un village berbère au Maroc uniquement habité par des femmes condamnées à offrir leurs charmes. Seuls des hommes dûment argentés peuvent y séjourner. Mais lorsque Mina, incarcérée durant vingt-cinq ans, revient, l'ordre des choses est perturbé : celle-ci ayant appris l'art du métier à tisser leur offre une nouvelle perspective… Ces femmes contraintes jusqu'ici de dissimuler douleur et honte, autrement dit d'avoir les « yeux secs », vont-elles s'émanciper, enfin, d'un destin tragique ?
