The movie starts with a panchayati scene under a tree in a village where RGR,the village head, judges a dispute between Mukkamala and a Rowdy.Mukkamala, a resident of the village, leaves it in some unknowncircumstances and returns to the village after 15 years. He learns that hisproperty (house) was owned illegally by a Rowdy and he is not willing togive the proprty back to Mukkamala. And hence the Panchayati.As usual, RGR (the Villain) supports the Rowdy and does injustice toMukkamala. Having no enough power to face the Rowdy or the village head, heagain leaves the village.

Ravi (Chiranjeevi) is the son of a sincere Police officer (Satyanarayana). Ravi accidentally hurts his neighbour's eyes and become responsible for his blindness. Fearing that his father would scold him, he runs away from home and is brought up by a don in Calcutta, who names him Kalidas. The don dies in an encounter and Kali is asked to leave the world of crime and become a good citizen. Kalidas changes his name to Raja and while traveling in a train saves his father, later realising their relationship. Because of his criminal background he does not reveal that he is his son. Satyanarayana takes him to his house and introduces Raja to his family members. His father is to face the local goons headed by Rao Gopala Rao. In the mean time he meets Radha and came to realise that she is the daughter of the person who became blind because of him. Raja helps her in having her father's eyesight returned and wins her heart.

Gummadi and Sivakrishna are brothers. Shivakrishna is a socialist and wants to spend the property for the poor, whereas Gummadi is a very selfish man. Their differences lead to the death of Sivakrishna as planned by Raogopal Rao, Allu and Chalapati Rao. Chakravarthi (Sobhan Babu) is the son of Gummadi and Tilak (Krishna) is the son of Sivakrishna. Tilak joins as a worker in the company of Gummadi. Jayaprada is the niece of Gummadi and she falls in love with Tilak. Chakravarthi loves Sridevi, daughter of a teacher in their company. The villains have issues with Tilak. The resulting conflict between Chakravarthi and Tilak finally leads to the revelation of their relationship and a happy ending.

The story revolves around Bhanu Chandra, a forest officer by profession. He falls in love with a tribal girl "Tulasi" (played by Archana). He gets arrested by Police as they mistakenly identify him as a Naxalite. In an unfortunate event, he kills a police man and gets life imprisonment. Narasimha Murti (Chiranjeevi) is a multi-talented person who works as a waiter in a star hotel (filming location: Dolphin Hotel, Visakhapatnam) since he is unable to pass his B.A. exams. He meets Sujata (Sumalata), a lecturer who works in a college run by councillor Ankela Adiseshayya (Kaikala Satyanarayana). Mohan (Girish), who is an engineer and elder son of Adiseshayya, comes to Sujatha's place with his father for a marriage proposal. During this Sujata stands up and has an argument with Adiseshayya when the latter demands exorbitant amounts as dowry. This creates a rift between Sujata and her parents who fear that this act of Sujata might ostracize them from society. Adiseshayya also dismisses Sujata from her job.
