William John "Bill" Scott (August 2, 1920 – November 29, 1985) was an American voice actor, writer and producer for animated cartoons, primarily associated with Jay Ward and UPA.

Biography

Durant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, il sert dans l'armée américaine First Motion Picture Unit où il travaille avec des animateurs tels que Frank Thomas. Il entre ensuite chez Warner Bros, principalement pour se consacrer au personnage de Bugs Bunny, puis passe chez United Productions of America où il participe à l'adaptation de Dr. Seuss ainsi qu'au court-métrage Gerald McBoing-Boing qui remporte un Oscar du cinéma en 1951.

Également comédien de doublage quand il a rejoint Jay Ward comme chef scénariste et coproducteur, il prête sa voix aux personnages de Bullwinkle J. Moose, Dudley Do-Right et Mr. Peabody dans la série télévisée Les Aventures de Rocky et Bullwinkle et à George dans George of the Jungle.

Il apparaît en chair et en os dans l'émission de télévision The Duck Factory aux côtés de Jim Carrey. Dans l'épisode Les Annie Awards, Bill Scott joue un rappeur à une cérémonie pour dessinateurs.

Auteur de nombreuses publicités pour Quaker Oats et General Mills, société qui finance en grande partie les Aventures de Rocky et Bullwinkle, il estprésident et cofondateur de l'ASIFA-Hollywood.

Vers la fin de sa carrière, il travaille pour Walt Disney Television Animation sur la série Les Gummi dans laquelle il double le personnage de Gruffi (il sera remplacé par Corey Burton). Il meurt en 1985.

Il était marié à l'actrice Dorothy Scott (1923-2004).

Nous retrouvons Bugs en guide racontant à un vieil homme la terrible histoire de Steve Brody, l'homme qui sauta du haut du pont de Brooklyn en 1886. Steve Brody était devenu très malchanceux et décida de trouver une patte de lapin. Il prend Bugs pour victime et se fait rouler par le lapin. Il l'envoie chez un voyant, qui n'est autre que Bugs. Ce dernier l'aiguille sur une mauvaise voie et Brody perd encore aux dés et à la machine à sous. Bugs roule le malchanceux en lui faisant prédire une chance en amour, mais Steve doit bientôt déchanter devant les attaques de Bugs déguisé en femme ; il se fait avoir une dernière fois lorsque Bugs se déguise en boulanger. Il découvre alors tous les déguisements de Bugs (boulanger, femme, passant, fakir) et finit par croire qu'il voit des lapins partout, y compris dans un miroir et quand il supplie un policier (encore Bugs déguisé). Devenu fou, Steve finit par se jeter du pont. Bugs Bunny explique ainsi les raisons étranges de l'acte du désespéré devant son auditeur, tellement conquis qu'il en « achète » le pont lui-même (jeu de mot sur « I buy it » : « j'achète » ou « j'y crois », et la galéjade américaine du touriste très naïf à qui on pourrait même vendre le pont de Brooklyn).

Toby "Toe" Thompson (Jimmy Bennett) is bullied by Helvetica "Hel" Black (Jolie Vanier) and her brother Cole (Devon Gearhart) on the way to school. In rural Texas, go-go dancer Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) decides to quit her low-paying job and find another occupation. Max (Cayden Boyd) is a lonely child in the suburbs of Austin who creates an imaginary world named Planet Drool, where all of his imagination and dreams come to life. He creates two characters; Sharkboy (Taylor Lautner), a young boy who was raised by sharks after losing his father at sea, and Lavagirl (Taylor Dooley), who can produce fire and lava, but has trouble touching objects without setting them alight. The two left Max to guard Planet Drool. In real life, Max's parents (David Arquette and Kristin Davis) have little time for him and their marriage seems to be on the rocks, and he is bullied by fellow schoolmate Linus (Jacob Davich). However, he does receive friendship from Marissa (Sasha Pieterse), the daughter of his teacher Mr. Electricidad (George Lopez, whose name is Spanish for "electricity"). Linus steals Max's Dream Journal (where all of his ideas are kept) and vandalizes it. The next day, a tornado rages outside the school, and moments later, Sharkboy and Lavagirl appear and ask Max to come with them to Planet Drool. They reach Planet Drool via a shark-like spacecraft, where Max learns that the dreamworld is turning bad, courtesy of Mr. Electric (also portrayed by George Lopez), originally the dreamworld's electrician but now corrupted.

One evening at Herrington High School in Ohio, a few teachers, the head football coach and the principal leave after discussions about the school's budget. Having left her keys behind, Principal Drake (Bebe Neuwirth) returns to retrieve them. In her office, she is barred from leaving by Coach Willis (Robert Patrick), who becomes increasingly erratic, then impulsively stakes a pencil through her hand and Drake facially slashes Willis with keys. Drake flees to the main school doors only to find the handles chained up and drama teacher Mrs. Olsen (Piper Laurie) is outside, unable to assist Drake. Willis is then ambushed by Drake hiding in a room, smashing a jar on his head, seizes his keyset and grabs scissors for a weapon. Drake runs to the doors with Willis at her tail, unable to immediately find the correct key allows Willis to get up close and obstruct door closure, but Drake successfully closes the padlock. Olsen then consecutively stabs Drake with the scissors with an emotionless face, and reveals that Olsen is in cahoots with Willis.

Due to a miscarriage of justice Willis Newton was in prison. Afterwards he worked on a farm and was in love with the owner's daughter. Their marriage was confounded when her father was informed that Willis had been a convict. Willis returns to his family's land and tells his mother how the farmer offered him to stay as a mere worker. Still upset he craves a chance to escape poverty and goes to town. Willis meets with two criminals named Slim and Glasscock in a western saloon. The proprietor is an Indian chief who got rich when oil was found on his land. Word is the chief would not have even been allowed to enter the saloon as a guest before that. Thus Willis learns that social climbing is possible for him too if only he happens to get to a lot of money. Now he will collect a great deal of money by robbing banks until he can purchase an oil well.
