Lucien Littlefield (August 16, 1895, San Antonio, Texas – June 4, 1960, Hollywood, California) was an American actor in the silent film era. He later made numerous cameo appearances on television series.
His role of the doctor in The Cat and the Canary (1927) is one of his more notable performances. He appeared with Laurel and Hardy, first as an eccentric professor in Dirty Work, and finally as a vet in their classic feature Sons of the Desert, both made in 1933. He also played Mary Pickford's father in My Best Girl in 1927. Other roles include Tumbleweeds, with William S. Hart, Ruggles of Red Gap, with Charles Laughton, and Johnny Come Lately, with James Cagney.
He played an eccentric inventor in an early Adventures of Superman episode called "The Runaway Robot". Littlefield played many character roles in other TV shows of the 1950s, such as Blondie, Lassie, Dragnet'' and Peter Gunn.
He died of natural causes in 1960, and was buried in Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

The story is based on two distinct early 19th-century themes, including the attempts by abolitionists (Cooper and Raft) to end the slave trade. Although the U.S. Constitution ended the importation of slaves in 1808, slaves were still being brought into the country under foreign flags. The abolition of slavery by Great Britain helped reduce legal trade in slaves by putting the British navy into action against slave traders, but even Britain had its supporters of the trade (here represented by Wilcoxon, as a British naval officer acting for the slave interests). The collision between Cooper and Wilcoxon is complicated by Wilcoxon's sister (Dee) falling in love with Cooper.

On the vast mountainous Montana vista, to the soft strains of a "ride 'em" chorus, horned cattle are quietly herded until raiders divert them. The film tells the story of Captain Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond, a British officer who, while on a drive with his friend Algy Longworth and valet Tenny, is the first to discover a mysterious suitcase that is parachuted from an aircraft above, minutes before the plane crashes. Chester Beatty (Ruggles) and Tessie Weeks (Boland) have been engaged for 5 years and going together for 15 years before that. Chester is reluctant to burden Tessie with marriage because of his secret problem. He is a sleepwalker.
