Amar Sangi is a 1987 Bengali film directed by Sujit Guha and produced by Dipti Pal.The film features actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Vijeta Pandit in the lead roles. The music of the film has been composed by Bappi Lahiri.This is one of the biggest blockbuster films in the Bengali film industry and it is famed for its popularity and catchy music. Prosenjit's career took off after this film and he's now a legend in the industry.

Synopsis

Sagar (Prosenjit Chatterjee) is a young man from a rich family whose father Indranil is a very prominent businessman. Sagar goes off to pursue his education and after he returns home he meets a pretty young lady called Jhilik (Vijeta Pandit), who was a childhood friend. They meet and they fall in love. When Sagar's father finds out about their relationship he refuses to accept it because Jhilik is the daughter of Anuradha, their maid. Indranil wants his son to marry his friend's daughter Tumpa instead. Tumpa's brother Suvankar also wants his sister to marry Sagar as he has designs on the properties of Indranil & Sagar. When all his plans fail, Suvankar attempts to kill Indranil by sabotaging his car. In the mean time, Sagar finds out about this and saves his father. Later Suvankar is handed over to the police for his crime. Eventually Indranil realizes his mistakes and relents to have Jhilik as his daughter-in-law. In the end Jhilik and Sagar are re-united.

It is the story of a music lover named Kishore (Prosenjit Chatterjee), he belonged to a poor family. He wanted to learn music from a person named Shankar Maharaj (Soumitra Chatterjee), who stopped teaching music because his students ditched him after learning music and violated his instructions. His daughter Ontora (Rituparna Sengupta) helped Kishore to learn music by employing him as a maid in their house. They fell in love with each other. When Shankar Maharaj, came to know about the fact, he asked Kishore to break this relation as a token of his teaching. After sometime, the student who violated the instruction of Shankar Maharaj released an audio cassette & she hired Kishore as the music teacher. In the felicitation ceremony Shankar Maharaj was terribly humiliated a girl student, that he can't sing & knows nothing about songs. To prove her wrong, he started singing but fell ill in the midst of the song. Then Kishore came & completed the song & gave his required token as a teacher. Kishore & Shankar Maharaj's son become united again.

Sagar Mukherjee(Prosenjit) is a tea taster in profession. He lives beside the house of Shipra(Rituparna Sengupta), his neighbour. Prasad Halder is the boss of Sagar’s company and her also lives beside them. Sagar and Shipra fall in love and go for registrary marriage without informing Shipra’s parents. Prasad(Robi Ghosh) helps them. Shipra starts living with Sagar. Shipra’s father does not accept this relationship. Shipra becomes pregnant. She has to be admitted in a hospital. There she meets with Krishna(Satabdi Roy) who is also pregnant. Shipra and Krishna give birth to girls on the same day, but suddenly fire catches in the hospital,and the girls are exchanged. Only the doctor and the nurse knows this. Shipra and Sagar’s daughter Maya(Srabanti Chatterjee), Nirmal and Krishna’s daughter Trishna grows up. One day Shipra dies due to cardiac failure. So, taking Maya, Sagar shifts to a tea-garden. There he meets Nirmal and Krishna with their son Kushal(Soham Chakraborty) and daughter Trishna. One day it is revealed that Trishna has a heart problem. The nurse accidentally comes to know about the Krishna’s present status in the city and her girl’s problem. In a major operation Trishna dies. The nurse reveals the incident of exchange of the babies to Krishna. Krishna and Nirmal came to know about Maya’s origin, but Sagar does not want to handover Maya to them. By law, Nirmal and Krishna get the charge of Maya. But Maya doesnot want to live with them. Sagar(Prosenjit) breaks down. Kushal does not want to recognise Maya as his sister. Maya runs away with Kushal and unites with her father sagar. Krishna and Nirmal accept it.

It is a romantic love story. Payel was the daughter of Pratap Choudhury who was an industrialist. Pratap was a boxing champion during his college days. He arranged his daughter's marriage with Viky who was a supervisor of his office. But Payel did not like Viky's behaviour. On the other hand, Rahul become an agriculturist, he was also an industrialist. But Rahul did not like to live with his father, so he lived with his friend Aziz and had his own agriculture farm. One day in the way to town Rahul and his friends saw some hooligans were trying to physically torture a girl. Rahul rescued the girl . From there they become enemies. After some days when Payel was going to a picnic, Rahul was returning from his farmhouse, Payel's car hit him and he fell beside the road and Payel went away. For that behaviour, Payel destroyed the farm house and killed many animals. After watching that Rahul forced Payel to rebuild the farm. So Payel was detained by Rahul in his farm. In the night she tried to escape but fell among some hooligans in the forest. But Rahul rescued her again. After that she fell in love . They loved each other. Pratap did not agree to their love. So he sent his daughter to his sister's house. Unfortunately there lived Rahul's uncle a Major. After knowing their love Major and Pratap's sister sent them to marry. On the other hand Viky was trying to marry Payel for Pratap's property, so he and his friends reached Rahul's father's house and at the end he was arrested by police. Rahul got wounded to save Pratap Choudhury. Finally Pratap agreed to marry his daughter with Rahul. Finally the romantic love story happily ended.

Binodini is a young girl who is left to her own devices when her sickly husband dies soon after their marriage. She returns to her village and lives there for a couple of months until she sees one of her relatives passing by. Binodini hails the woman and the two sons agree that it would be best if Binodini came to live with the woman and her son, Mahendra. (Mahendra was one of the first to see Binodini's photo when she was unwed yet refused her on account of his being "unready for marriage.") When the two arrive, Mahendra and his new bride are constantly sneaking off to be alone together. This infatuation does not last long, and Mahendra soon begins to see that Binodini is more his type. At Kashi, Binodini meets Behari who, after some incidents, agrees to marry her. On the day of marriage Binodini vanishes, leaving a letter for Asha. The story details the lives of these three and Mahendra's best friend as they deal with issues such as distrust, adultery, lies, and falling-out.
