The movie is a western adaptation of the Greek myth of Orestes, subject of three famous drama-plays by Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides. Ulrich P. Bruckner puts it among the "most interesting and most touching spaghetti westerns of the late sixties".
Synopsis
When he returns home from war the Mexican general Juan Carrasco is killed by the lover of his wife Anna. The victim's children run away with their nanny but fifteen years later they come back for revenge. Anna and Tomas want to have them killed but their henchmen fail them. It turns out Anna is not the real mother of the dead general's children.Actors

L'homme à tout faire du ranch Warren, Peter, fait la cour à la fille de ce dernier, Dorothy, mais son père lui inflige une flagellation avant de le chasser de sa terre. Mais Peter refuse de l'abandonner et apprend à manier les six coups avec dextérité pour mener sa vengeance contre son père. Lorsqu'il revient au ranch,il découvre que Dorothy n'a point épouser Johnny mais qu'elle travaille dans un saloon comme entraîneuse.Peter va tirer les choses au clair et montrer un autre visage.

When a violent gang robs a bank, they also commit arson because the diversion eases their getaway. While the local prison is burning, four of its inmates profit from the general turmoil too. Among the four escapees is Ciakmull, a young man suffering with amnesia, who only remembers about his previous life that he has been home in the town Oxaca. For lack of a better idea all the fugitives go there. It shows that Ciakmull is not forgotten in Oxaca. Lion Udo, the father of one of the bankrobbers, recognises Ciakmull. He, whose clan has a feud with Ciakmull's family, takes advantage of his condition by turning him against his own kin. Before this plan works out, Ciakmull is warned on time by one of his fellow fugitives. Ciakmull contacts his half-brother Alan and his father John Caldwell. Only then he learns what caused his amnesia and why he'd ended up in prison. It was Alan who once mistreated Ciakmull and ran a scheme to put him away. He hates Ciakmull since he knows that Ciakmull is not the son of John Caldwell, but the child of a rapist.

Un jeune garçon, Alex Mitchell, voit ses parents massacrés par le tyran local, Charly Moran, qu'ils avaient eu la mauvaise idée de défier pour protéger un innocent injustement condamné. Avide de richesse, Moran voulait s'approprier leur ferme et une source pour ses troupeaux. L'enfant est laissé pour mort tandis que sa soeur Judy est kidnappée par Moran pour devenir sa « propriété » et celle de son fils. Élevé par une communauté religieuse adepte de la non-violence, Alex ne peut pourtant se résoudre à pardonner le meurtre de ses parents et jure de les venger. Jeremias was 12 years old when an onslaught on his parents' ranch made him an orphan. He has fought Indians ever since because he considers them responsible for this atrocity. As an adult he captures one day Tune, a young squaw in the wilderness. He brings her to the next city because he plans to sell her as a slave to the highest bidder. Before she is passed on to a buyer, a racistic mob tries to lynch her. Jeremias foils this attempts but is taken by surprise later on. Two bandits abduct Tune and leave Jeremias for dead. As soon as he has recovered sufficiently he pursues the misdoers. When he gets at them, it turns out they are associated with a so-called friend of his late father. Jeremias discloses that this presumed friend did not only deceive George Bridger, but also his son Jeremias. The murderers of the Bridger family have been his henchman who had been ordered to mask themselves as Indians.

John Warner is a soldier for the Confederate States of America. When he receives a message that his lover is about to deliver a child he becomes a deserter.
