Jajabara is a 1975 Odia language Indian movie. The music was composed by Akshya Mohanty. It was produced by Mr. Bijay Pattnaik, directed by Akshaya Mohanty, Hemanta Das and Bijay Mishra (Trimurty). It stars Sriram Panda, Banaja Mohanty & Tripura Mishra. Jajabar was the first black-and-white Odia film and also the first regional film in India to be digitally coloured and the first to be given a theatrical re-release in the state.

Synopsis

Rashbihari Samantrai is a landlord and has two sons Anu and Arup. Anu is an industrialist and plans to start an industry in "Sundari Tota", a place owned by his father and inhabited by rural folks. But Rashbihari promises to donate the "Sundari Tota" to his religious guru for building an Ashram. The villagers requested Rashbihari not evacuate them form "Sundari Tota" as they are leaving in this place since years. But the second son Arup, who has a love interest with one of the village girl Jhili, the habitat of the place revolt back with his father against the decision to donate the land to his religious guru. At last Arup convinces his father and ended with marriage of Arup and Jhili.

Sania (Prashant Nanda) lives with his ailing mother and friend Makara in village. They are fisherman by profession. One day they find a girls named Manika (Mahasweta Roy) in the river and rescues her. Sania brings the girls to his home and they look after the girl. After Manika gets well Sania & Makara decides to return Manika to their parents. When they reaches Manika's village, Manika/s parents refuses to return her back as she lives with the lower cast people for some days. As no other way out, Sania takes Manika to his home. Manika falls in love with Sania. But Sania's heart doesn't allow him to accept the Manka's offer as Manika belongs to a higher caste. Sania, in the meantime tries to find out suitable match for Manika and finds a docter, who comes to the village for the treatment for plague diseases as the village effected by plague. The doctor agrees to marry Manika and leaves the town to get his family's approval. But days passes away, the doctor doesn't return. All the villagers in the village complains of Sania and Manika leaving together. Manika doesn't bear all the blames made by the villager and vanishes. Sanu can not control himself and become insane.

Bruno Stroszek (Bruno S.) is a Berlin street performer. Released from prison and warned to stop drinking, he immediately goes to a familiar bar where he comforts Eva (Eva Mattes), a prostitute down on her luck, and lets her stay with him at the apartment his landlord kept for him.
