Synopsis
Bob Harding, un étudiant, est amoureux de Rena Austin. Alors qu'il se prépare à jouer un important match de football, il reçoit un mot lui annonçant que son père est mort. Une fois rentré chez lui, il apprend que son père n'a rien laissé pour payer l'université et, alors qu'il est en train de chercher du travail, sa mère est victime d'escrocs qui lui font signer une option sur ses biens. Il sera finalement aidé par un vagabond, qui s'avère être le père depuis longtemps disparu de Rena. Après diverses péripéties, il arrivera à temps sur le terrain pour mener son équipe à la victoire.Actors

In 1939, a new radio network based at station WBN in Chicago, Illinois begins its inaugural night. The station's owner, General Walt Whalen, depends on his employees to impress main sponsor Bernie King. This includes writer Roger Henderson, assistant director Penny Henderson (Roger's wife, seeking divorce), page boy Billy Budget, engineer Max Applewhite, conductor Rick Rochester, announcer Dexter Morris, director Walt Whalen, Jr. and stage manager Herman Katzenback. After King commissions rewrites on the radio scripts, the WBN writers get angry, adding to the fact that they have not been paid in weeks.

Successful American lawyer Robert Hayward (William Holden) is in Kenya because his ex-wife Christine (Capucine) is having some problems with their eleven-year-old daughter Tina (Pamela Franklin), who has a great affinity with Africa, its customs and its wildlife. Tina spends much of her time in the company of the lion she raised from a cub. When tempestuous Mary Lennox (Margaret O'Brien), born in India to wealthy parents, is orphaned by a cholera epidemic, she is sent to live with her reclusive and embittered Uncle Archibald Craven (Herbert Marshall) and her ill-behaved, bedridden cousin Colin (Dean Stockwell) at their desolate and decaying estate known as Misselthwaite Manor.
